Alternator Wiring Upgrade - Please Clarify

Beefing up the alternator wiring is suggested in several places, and one message advised me to leave the original wiring in place when I added the new, heavier wire (fused inline) directly to the positive terminal.

I include a drawing that shows the system before and after doing that.

I am concerned that adding a direct positive to the battery post, while leaving another direct positive to the Fusible Link, will detract from the efficacy of the Fusible Link. According to the FSM, some devices are fused before the current passes through the Fusible Link, and other devices are fused after the current passes through the Fusible Link. At least that's how I read the FMS diagrams.

If both the old and new wires are active, would that not cause problems with the "paths" taken by the current through the system?

Would it be better to just take out the original wires, and replace them with heavier wire, but using the same path: from Alternator to Fusible Link, from Fusible Link to Battery?

Or is it OK to have one direct path to the battery separate from the direct path to the Fusible Link, both being active at the same time?

And if that is OK, then should we upgrade the wiring for both paths?

Thanks.

Indeed, I would replace the wiring in the same manner as it is stock; running wiring directly from the alternator to the battery positive post is essentially completely bypassing the fusible link. Not something I'd do...

If you ran an additional wire from the battery positive to alternator positive The only thing you would be bypassing is the 140 A fusible link "a". As long as you have a 140 A or lower fuse inline in the additional wire and the additional wire is similar in gauge as the original it will cause no problems.

All the other circuits that feed off that link are protected by their own fuses.
