EGR delete?

I took the pain in the *** job of cleaning my EGR about 2 weeks ago, i was throwing the P0400 code, i found a rubber hose had also dry rotted so i replaced that aswell now, i have the P0400 code back after under 2 weeks, and quite frankly im tired of the EGR if I take the damn IM off again I dont want it to be because of EGR problems its such PITA thing to do. So can the EGR be deleted on the USIM without throwing codes, will there be and performance losses due to it? I heard in one thread somebody said just let the sensor dangle and it wont throw any codes but that just doesnt sit right. I need some clarification before i shoot the thing.

Really... Though I am running the 00VI, it makes no difference. The EGR is a separate entity from the IM. I capped the hole in the header, and I capped the hole in the IM. Took everything out, and let the sensor dangle.

so u used a block plate right, im looking for those and none are specifically made for the maxima obviously, so would the 300zx use the same sized block plate?

I'm using a block off plate for a 3000GT, IIRC. Fits up to the UIM perfectly.

I'll grab a pic the next time my UIM is off, I'm sure it won't be a week or so before it is again.

Actually now that I think about it, it may very well have been from a Z32. But IIRC it was bolted up to a precat, so

Dragging up an old thread here but how has the EGR delete gone? I know mine is pretty mucked up and rather than dealing with cleaning it all the time I would just like to delete it. It does raise a question...by deleting it would it cause for a hard cold start??

Mine is going to go through some changes but not all at once so it still gets to run as a pizza delivery vehicle during the changes...lol.

Thanx in advance

Since i know what a pain in the *** process it can be i should to a write up, but everything has gone perfectly for me as far as deleting the EGR, what i did was to take the sensor out of the tube and use a long bolt to plug the hole. just find a place to hang the sensor in my case i used the strut bar and let it dangle there so its not touching any metal to cause weird interferences. The EGR should block up again in no time at all because of the bolt obstructing the path but it will never throw a code again because the sensor is no longer there.

I have run the car like this for a couple of months but im doing a 3.5 swap now so i dont have to worry about EGRs anymore.

No, it has nothing to do with cold start. Just remove everything, plug off the rear exhaust manifold, block off the port on the UIM, problem solved.

Why not just use the OEM plug for the exhaust manifold, and remove all of that extra crap?

Post a pic of what? There's nothing to post a picture of, as it's all gone; that's the entire point of removing it.

Bringing this back im wondering if anyone can help with this. I did the 3.5 swap and had EGR deleted in Nistune, the guy working on my car is saying I still need the evap canister purge valve and purge control solenoid connected with vacuum and plugged in to the harness.

I just have the Egr sensor dangling, and the green EGR solenoid connected. My question is whether I deleted this EGR in Nistune or not ( 95 ECU ) would I get any codes for EGR if I left this disconnected? I included a photo. Its the evap purge control valve and evap purge solenoid.
