Which Brakes Pads??

so i had my brakes pads changed about 10k miles ago, i feel them not braking great anymore, so i want to get a new set.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
I want to get the best stopping power i can, dust and noise are secondary.

Wagner Thermoquiets would be a wise decision. Very good stopping power and depending who installs them, no noise. I got mine at a decent price too they were on sale

what pads did you have. Were they the front or the back? Did a shop do it? did you do it?? Were the rotors in good condition?? did they warp?? Is your brake fluid clean??

I would be more worried for the fact that you feel like you can't stop as well after 10k. Unless your brake pads are really really crappy, or the fact that you brake so hard and often that the brake pads are worn out is why you feel like you're brakes are no good anymore.

I always suggest this combination, brembo blanks and pbr/axxis metal masters

thanks everyone for the responses.

as to the questions from ImmaSquashYou.
-i got it done at a shop
-they installed OEM brakes, and they only installed them in the back,
-Im thinking its the pads versus anything else because i hear a sqeek, like metal rubbing on metal type of sound.
-the front pads i didnt replace since i got the car, mechanic said they were fine.
-brake fluid is fine, dont know how to check the rotors.

im gonna look up on the info you guys gave and keep you posted.
thanks again

I'm a big fanof EBC Green, and Red. I run the Yellows on the race car, and they are awsome! They dust very badly though.

Your local auto parts store will most likely stock the Wagners.
Advance auto stocks them, I believe NAPPA does too.

i'm curious as to why your rear brake pads can make a metal on metal grinding sound after 10k. The backs on our cars wear less than the front. Are you sure that its not the fronts that makin the sound??? has this sound just started recently?? maybe take it to a car wash, a lot of times that fixes the problem since some debris might have lodged into the caliper/rotor area. The only time that my brakes made a metal on metal sound was when i put the pad on backwards (the metal part was facing the rotor and the ceramic part was facing the rim of the wheel, heh.....)

PBR Deluxe pads or Akebono ceramic pads will work out great.

i dont like ceramics. They have a slight, super quiet squeal. It annoyed the hell outta me until i put semi-metallic back on. Squeal went away. Do your homework with ceramics to find a quite pair. Plus i didnt really notice any improvement in stopping power.

3 things to check for rotors i can think of are:
- warp - feels jerky when you brake cause by bent rotor
- grooves - you look and feel for them, you should be able to tell really deep ones fairly easily
- cracks - i've never seen them on a car but i've seen then on u-hauls, they look like radical cracks

I would get some pads from Napa, some Ceramic's since there if they dont work you can always upgrade to something better. I order off line from BrakePerformance.com rotors and some semi metallic premiums which sucked and squeaked so bad took them off and sent them back they are sending new ones with Ceramics.

Did your brakes still work though? I think a mechanic installed it incorrectly when I got new brakes along with tires last year and ever since I get a loud screech when you mildly tap the brakes. It was my mother's car back then so she trusted the mechanic rather than me. Can I check this with the car on the ground.

Thank you.

Forgive me if this is distracting from the topic, but I really don't want this noise anymore, it is embarrassing.
