**UPDATE** Finished and installed, check new pics...Also night pics to come


Hey guys, I'm in the process of mocking up a template to replace my rear, rusted out OEM license plate blub housings and bracket...

I need some suggestions on what to make the bracket out of, something easy to manipulate and make this happen.

Here is a crappy picture that shows the general idea I'm going with and my old bracket. The template is cardboard and I pulled the fittings and screws out of the old bracket.

I'd just go with aluminum, you can get it in strips about that wide.

Easy to form, easy to cut, don't have to worry about rust.

 

I'm looking around the house for possibilities was thinking plastic but aluminum would be a good idea

 

i might be wrong, but plastic would be much better.. aluminum rusts the easiest..

 

Err, what?

Only ferrous metals can rust. Ever taken a magnet to aluminum?

Plastic would likely just become brittle over time and crack.

Mine has been rusted and not working for years but I didnt feel like spending the $60 at nissan to get the two cheap lights with bracket so I purchased just the bracket, $25, and an LED strip off of a website online, $12, and it looks amazing. Didnt take too long to expoy the strip to the new bracket, and install it up.

Thats what I was thinking matty....times are tough and I was just trying to save by fabbing up an OE style bracket

I recently picked up an led license plate bracket from autozone for like 15 or 20 bux.. It was in the led/ricer section and took about 10 minutes to install.. Just throwin it out there..

 

It is very easy to do. You can do it out of any metal strip laying around your house for like 10 min. Preferably metal that is soft, bends easy and does not rust. I think i just described aluminum

 

haha, i dont have any aluminum strips "layin around the house"

 

Take a small peice of 2x4 and stick it in behind, bolt up your licence plate to that, for the lights i would just caulk them to the back part of the bumper, thats what i did

 

^^^^that sounds like a hack job and a half lawlzz!

Anyway, I'm finished....I ended up using zinc-plated aluminum from the Depot of Home... Heres some pics:

Total cost about 25 bucks...but 15$ was for dremel cutting wheels I needed...so roughly I spent 10 Bucks!

 

Installed today, wiring finished, night pics to come....
