Strange squeaking sound when disengaging clutch- Anybody??

When I disengage my clutch, I have started to get a squeaking noise. It just started happening, and I have absolutely no idea what it could be...does anybody have any idea at all??

Does it only happen when the car is cold? If it disappears after a few minutes of driving, then it's normal... I think of it more as a "whining" noise.

I took careful notice of this, and no, it does it when the car is completely warmed up, I don't think it even does it when it's cold. And I do know about the whining of the clutch in heavy stop & go type traffic, and this is completely different...this is actually a "squeak," and it's only when I disengage the clutch, not when I engage it.

This happens when as you said "warmed up" and when your about half way to full disengage. Kind of a chirping noise!

Exactly!!!!! Is this ok?? Or do I need to lube the cable as above?

Hehe, I think he was implying that you're chirping your tires. If you're posting in this 4th gen. forum because you drive one, I don't think you'll find a clutch cable. We have hydraulic clutches so I would check the fluid resevoir. Also how many miles are on your max? Maybe the bearing is going. I don't knowDoes it drive fine otherwise? Good luck.

Maybe its the joint in the clutch pedal that is squeeking. Spray some WD-40 down there and see if that helps...

My car started doing this at about 30k. I'd drive a little while (mainly in stop and go situations) and the clutch would chirp! So, I brought it to the dealer and got a warranty fix on this problem. They said it was a poorly lubed throughout bearing. They fixed it and suggest that it could possibly happen again and not to worry if it does...........If it does I'll be BS, because there is no need of a 25k car making drive train noises! We already got enough interior buggs!

Where specifically do I put the lube? And what do I use?

Mine does the same thing...Its your throwout bearing...the only way to fix it is to replace it or lube it up(taking the tranny off to get to it)...Mine makes the noise if I let it sit like when im in a store and i come out and use it but it wont make it after a long trip cause the lube thats in there is warmed up...Its just the lube being cold...some do that some dont

throw out bearings can wear out with very low mileage on the clock. usually resting your foot on the clutch pedal and/or holding down the clutch pedal for a long duration are the main culprits for accelerated wear. i have coworkers in the office that drove stick this way. i've seen the practice of holding the clutch pedal to the floor when they coast to a stop sign, or during a wait at a stoplight.

Yea I know that, but I'm not talking about wear, I'm talking about the lube being cold and making noise...Mine makes the same sound and I brought it to the macanic and he said its fine=normal
