Loose Steering Help
i have a 1995 max gle auto, and the steering on my max is very loose, i know i must have good power steering. But i would love to have a lot tighter steering. I drove a 2000 Maxima and the steering on that is much tighter, and i love that feeling. So is there anyway to modify or upgrade my steering? Is there any possible way to make it tighter? Please help me out.

tell us more. Is the car stock? Do you have aftermarket tires? Is it aligned? blah, blah, blah The 4th gens do have some crazy steering, but there are several factors involved. There is also a thread on an adjustment to the steering rack (kinda involved) but do a search. Good luck.

I don't mean to seem like I'm egging you on but has the car always had this problem? Are the tires properly balanced and aligned and inflated? These are all variables. Is it only at certain speeds? Check out this link and the one that is inside of this link. Again, good luck. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....843#post652843

well.... GXE/GLE models do have easier steering then SE. Was the 2k u drove an SE?
Either way, the steering on my 98 GXE is very loose too. This is coming from a 93 SE to a 98 gxe.. How long have u had the car? If it's been a while and it was better before, then something is wrong.. Check your lower control arm bushings, also maybe ball joints/bearings.. However I am not sure if those things will lead to "loose" steering, it may be less responsive but still not loose..
