carbon fiber hood question...

i purchased a hood from fiberimages a while back, and i was just wondering....

1) has anyone with this hood figured out a way to prop the hood up via hood stands or hood lifts? I dont wanna warp my hood in any way.

2) is there some sort of rubber gasket that you can purchase to put on the front of the hood (sorta like a lip)? The hood fits fine, but i can see the tops of my headlights when it is closed. I couldnt see this when i had my stock hood on.

thanks in advance for any info you guys can give me!

The oem hood has rubber gasket above the headlights. You might able to remove them and install them on the CF hood. Few questions for you. Are you using hood pins? Did you install the windshield nozzles?

no, i havent had time to purchase hood pins yet. They are definitely on my "soon to get" list though.

As for the window washers.. i didnt want to cut holes in the hood and have it installed, so i removed the entire reservoir from my engine bay.

i dunno what you're talking about. Ive gone well over 110 (on a road trip for thanksgiving actually) and absolutely no problems with the hood. So far fitment of the hood has not been a problem.

They should have a distributor only phone number. That's what you need to find out. How else could they fulfil new orders? Sometimes it's worth buying through a dealer or retailer. Stuff like this would been taken care off.

yes, its quite strange opening a hood without the supports, trust me i opened maxis, i dont know if it would warp, but dang that thing is light, i wouldnt worry about the nozzles, i never use mine, and i dont think they would even look during inspection, the y pipe is what would cause u to fail if anything

I guess Im the only one here that has hood props on my CF hood. I used the stock props I drilled a hole in the frame part of the hood where the factory hood prop screws in then I ground a small slot in the inside of the frame so I could get a needle nose into the inside of the frame. Then I welded a nut and washer together and used a needle nose to hold it in place a I tightned the bolt on the prop. Be sure to use a washer on both sides of the frame so yu dont crack the fiberglass my washers are about 3/4 in diameter and the work fine. With the stock hood props and a CF hood you can lift it about * inches then it just flys up. Ive had them on for about 1 1/2 months and no problems!

you didnt have problems with the factory hood props warping the CF hood? I was told that they put too much pressure on the CF hood, and that it couldnt support them.

No they are fine the shocks only apply pressure when its upward but when its closed the shock are pushing the hood toward the front of the car rather than towards the sky, basicly the props have no leveridge upward when the hoods closed. when the hood closed the props are parallel with the hood.

hmmm... that doesnt look like carbon fiber to me. Was it painted white? The only thing i see that would make you think it is MAYBE carbon fiber is that there are no window washer sprayers on it. Personally, i like the woven carbon fiber look.
