EVAP diagnostic

After searching through tons of threads, reading through the FSM and inspecting a lot of parts and hoses, I think I'm approaching the end of my repair skills. My '97 has an EVAP issue, error codes P0440 and P0443. If I had the luxury of time, I would continue on my own, but I don't.

I looked in the book and there seems to be a work flow process that Nissan dealers will follow to diagnose this problem. Is there a standard hour figure that they would charge to run a diagnostic on the whole EVAP system from beginning to end?

Well, have you called the dealer you'd bring it to and asked them? That's what you should do.

Regardless of the 'standard' hours, the dealer may or may no go by that. Especially for a 'look at everything, see if you find anything wrong' type of situation.

Get a quote specifically for you, shouldn't be more than 10 minutes on the phone.

The correct thing one should do is inspect evap hoses for cracks and smoke system should none be found. An hour to 1 1/2.

I spoke to local dealer in person. He said "we charge 99 per hour, that's all I can tell you". Didn't exactly leave me with a feeling of confidence. Can anyone recommend a dealer service dept that they've had a good experience with in the NYC metro area?
