Recommendations Needed for Aftermarket Starter

Recommendations Needed for Aftermarket Starter
I have a 95 Maxima SE with 103,000 miles. At 80,000 (just under two years ago) I had the starter replaced with an OEM starter. Several days ago, I noticed that my starter "rumbled" when it engaged after the car had been sitting overnight. It has done this twice during the last 2 days. I am concerned that it is about to go. Once the car has been driven, the starter engages normally.
This morning I took it to Nissan. The Tech said the starter checked out okay and they could not find a "serviceable problem" with it. Yet, the service writer says there is something wrong with the starter. (???)
Early 4th generation Maximas are prone to starter problems according to Nissan. The original starter has supposedly been upgraded as it has a new Nissan part number. I'm concerned that I will get stranded because of the starter and am considering replacing it with an after-market one.
Has anybody replaced their starter with an aftermarket one? If so, which one? Does anyone have any recommendations concerning a better starter?
