It will need major modification to make it fit.

it will never fit as it is, it will need big time modifications done to it, compare the actual size of it, it wont line up directly

i'd rather have that cool rolex looking analog clock from the later infiniti's.

i'm sure it would be wayyyy easier to fab in some different vents than to replace the whole dashboard

well, the center console goes along with it. that would be hard to fit in our curvy dash

I think ya'll are wrong. I reckon the 5.5 gen dash would fit. I was sizing it up for my car.
The only reason I did not do it was that the 4 gen door panels wouldn't line up with the 5.5 gen dash, I'd need to get the door panels also.

Curious, what experience do ya'll have to say the 5/5.5 dash WONT fit? I put many Inifinit I35 interior parts in my 4th gen, and they all either lined up perfectly or needed just slight modding. The 5.5 gen is merely a worked over, updated 4 gen. Heck, even the 5.5 gen back seats fit perfectly in my 4 gen, everything lined up, all the clips and bolt ins. Not to mention the 5.5 and 4 gens are the exact same width. Oh, and yeah others have bolted in the 5.5 gen steering column too, that's a direct swap (not electrically, but it bolts in). I figured I'd need the dash, door panels (fronts at least), AT shifter assembly and the center console to get a complete bolt in, stock unmodded looking dash.

And when I swapped in all of the I35 engines bay stuff, harness, ECU, airbox, etc it ALL fit exactly, perfectly. All the holes lined up, grommet locations lined up, snaps popped in, etc. All the under dash stuff was a match for physical fitment.

I'd be surprised if the 5/5.5 dash didn't fit in a 4 gen!

When I took apart the center to change the radio in a 5th gen, I believe the mounting holes were different. I think the 4 outside bolts might line up but none of the ones in the middle would. Also I do not think the air bag section would line up perfectly. And the 5th gen door panels would def be a hard fit, the doors are definitely a different shape.

just to settle it all after i read this i tried it w/ my friends...like this person said door panels are a definite no go. you can just look at it and tell that, dash lines up for about 3 or the many bolts, radio does not line up perfectly but you can ghetto rig it in there. any other questions? but id like to add cool swap if you want to do it but it is a pointless one because of the mere fact that you can invest your money into other things that matter whether it be a lip kit or if you are a speed person than a y pipe or 00vi...just my .02 (not bashing anyone or anything)

Radio and passenger airbag are attached to a sub frame/cross member that can be swapped out. I think the dash and center console, using all 5/5.5 gen stuff would definitely fit.

I also checked the 5/5.5 gen door panels, and I would think this would be the real show stopper. There are slight differences that make a direct swap unlikely here, and without door panels that line up, a dash swap wouldn't be feasible.

I agree, there are better things to deal with on our cars than trying to get a different dash to fit in. Heck, there's better things in life to deal with than these cars

No, but I did disassemble my 4th gen, the donor 5.5 gen, and fit many 5.5 gen parts into my car, under hood and in the interior. Check my sig. I did my best to swap all parts in as if it were OEM. I reckon I have a good deal more experience on the matter than you do.

Because the backseats have 3 tall headrests, yeah they are taller. The actual seat back height is the same as my old ones, but my old stock seats just had bumps for headrests, not actual head rests like these.

Honestly, these seats are not so great. The padding is kinda hard, the seats are kinda flat. But my old seats had broken frames and the foam was falling out, so these fit the bill. I preferred the seats in my 95 Legend to these, but these were from a new car (at that time I got them) so they look good.

They don't impair rearward vision much. I'd say window tint like the car in your sig impairs outward visibility more than these headrests do. They don't come up in my rear vision much more than the stock wing.

how in the world you get that cluster to work, it looks like it fits in as far as dimensions, but it seems like a lot of rewiring. very nice mod

Dashboard ≠ gauge cluster...

Just have to wire it up. http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ster-98-a.html

You could put in any gauge cluster, really. Some just might be more or less compatible with the stock systems.

My car has the I35 harness and ECU in it.

I would suggest that you find a I30 cluster, they are very compatible with the 98+ Maxima's, and they may work in a 95-97. Use the link above to get an idea of what is involved....it's not easy unless you are proficient or determined (or both) at re-wiring things. One misplaced wire could fry something, or cause a low level problem you may not be aware of until you are stranded on the side of the road with a dead battery (among other things).

Besides the connectors being different, the actual signals used in the Gen 4, 5 and 5.5 are very similar. The Gen 5.5 (I35 cluster) has trip computer and can display MPGs, DTE, etc. It requires data from the ECU that the 4 and 5 gen ECU's do not provide, so I'd suggest using the I30 cluster.

how in the heck is that picking a fight? If I wanted to pick a fight I'd say something else. You wanna show how you're the better forum member by gettin' your nose up in other people's business?

I'm just saying, you don't have to chime in, unless you feel it's your place to call sideline shots.

BTW, I was drunk the other night looking around here and realized that tyler5619 said something messed up so I wanted to see if he still thinks he is so great he can say retarded stuff like that.

Too many people go spouting off about how things CAN'T be done, like they even tried. Then they throw out insults when someone WHO KNOWS WHAT THE HECK THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT throws out opinions or experiences to the contrary of the garbage conjecture everyone else is spreading.

take it or leave it dude, you don't gotta point anything out around here.
