Will a 98 Maxima trunk fit a 98 i30? Can I retrofit Maxima tail lights onto an i30?

^^ if you're on a budget, buy just the center piece and NiteShades the taillights so they *LOOK* like they match

OR, if you wanna be REALLY cool, swap THESE in!!!!

i like that a whole lot, but you would have 2 license plate spots, at least until you Bondo.
You think I haven't seen that before? What would be the point of doing a cefiro conversion when my only concern is upgrading the tail lights on the i30, preferably the G2 altezzas. Doing the cefiro conversion will leave me with 2 license plate spots and the same exact tail lights i started with...

since your looking for an answer, it wont fit. the i30 trunk is more "squared" and the maxima trunk is more round. i30 to maxima trunk will bolt up but wont close. maxima trunk to i30 might close shut but will look odd cause its rounder and the gaps will not match. even if they did match ok the outer tail lights wont fit let alone bolt on.

if you want we can trade cars(my max for your i30) and you keep the i30 front end...

lol. well kinda got the idea that the trunk wont fit. im just gonna hold off wit the tail light situation for now. eventually ima just do some cutting to get them in, then paint them black like that guy did in the other post, and paint the whole center valence black too.

how's this an upgrade?

here we go:
An oxymoron (plural oxymora (greek plural) or, more often, oxymorons) is a figure of speech that combines two normally contradictory terms. Oxymoron is a loanword from Greek oxy ("sharp" or "pointed") and moros ("dull"). Thus the word oxymoron is itself an oxymoron.

Because they look better than stock.. why keep a car stock when it has so much potential performance-wise and looks-wise, unless you're an old granny with nothing better to do, or just plain *** broke.

I don't understand how the ugly stock tails look nicer. Orange, red, and clear rectangles look nicer than 4 red LED rings??? And if you own a black Max and you paint around the rings black like some ppl on here did they look even better.

Then why dont you just open up your stock I30 tails and do some cool LED **** to them?
It would be cheaper and easier, and definitely unique.

Just dont start a new thread about making LED I30 tails.

Then I suggest you do some research, read more, and actually study it. The information is out there. Search for it.

Totally, because <3 garish chrome housings. Makes you look so different...except for 90% of mid-90s Hondas.

So you're pretty much saying the tail lights look bad because Honda ricers over used them? Sorry but that doesn't change the fact that they look good, and the Max has a sporty enough body to wear a set of altezzas.

Then put them on a MAXIMA if you like them so much.

No, I'm saying they look bad because, well...they look bad.

Seriously, I don't understand why anyone (including Toyota themselves) would even consider putting such an ugly POS set of tails on their car.

MAYBE if your car was chrome.

But then your whole car would look like ****, so no one would notice the tails.

Sure, I wouldn't just throw a set on my car without thinking first.

For example, my car is pretty much blacked out, therefore I would paint around the red rings in the altezzas like that guy who "skylined" his set, and there we go, no chrome.

Now if I had a black, white, silver, or burgundy GLE/GXE, I would just put the altezzas on the way they came. The chrome would match the chrome trim and door handles.

They would look horrible on the beige, dark green, and ocean blue Max's.

That would defeat the whole purpose of my question.... How many times do I have to say this, the i30 has no aftermarket tail lights made, probably because the 2 inner tail lights are connected. I would not trade my beloved I30 for a Maxima because theres no aftermarket tails made for it.

Looks like youre going to lose this battle here. Your questions been answered.

As an I30 owner myself I know all about the the lack of aftermarket support(compared to the Maxima). But thats something I checked into BEFORE I bought it.
Thats not why I bought it though. So youre just going to have to get creative and put some money into custom work or be happy with what you have.

Check out some custom body shops. They'll be able to give you details on whats involved and what it'll cost to do the work. Shop around and get quotes.

Yea I guess I gotta do that, but for real I didn't think I would be writing so much about a cosmetic mod, I feel like this threads been up forever. All I really care about is that ALL the Maxima PERFORMANCE mods are compatible with the I30.

But 1 day I wanna get some custom body work done to the rear. The I30 buttox is FUGLY. But the front end is nicer, and the hood is more define.

All performance mods are compatible.

No doubt, the front is nicer than the rear. Something Ive considered doing has been swapping my 96-97 tails for 98-99's and LED converting them. Opening up the outer tails is easy. The big middle bar section is a PITA. But Iwas able to open them all up and replace the reflectors and got these results...

That looks real sexy. I would love to do that and then paint the rest of the middle piece black.

You can definitely do that with these tails. And lightly smoking the brake lights, reverse lights, and signals would look hot with that too.

The INFINITI badging comes off easily. I removed mine with just my fingers, without needing a heat gun.

You are giving me crazy ideas lol.

Im thinking about painting the un-used middle space all black (not the lettering thogh), then completely gutting out the tail lights and making custom LEDs.

See.

And it'll look eleventy billion times better than those G2's, and cost a fraction of the cost to have them made to fit.
