Will a 98 Maxima trunk fit a 98 i30? Can I retrofit Maxima tail lights onto an i30?

I want to use the G2 euro tail lights on my 98 i30t. If I swap my trunk out for a maxima trunk will the trunk line up correctly and close properly?
Also if I do this, the inner tail lights on the trunk will fit but not the outer lights. Is it possible for a body shop to cut the car up a little to make them fit?

If you'd like, your body shop can 'cut the car up a little' to fit the tails from a Bugatti. Or an F430. Or an NSX.
It all depends on your budget.
Is it possible? Extremely.
And if I were you, I would seriously be repairing my trans first, and worrying about 'euro' (read: crap) tail lights later.

NO, IT WILL NOT FIT. THE REAR PANELS ARE DIFFERENT THEREFORE THE TRUNK LID WILL FIT DIFFERENT. THE ONLY THINGS THAT ARE INTERCHANGEABLE BODY WISE BETWEEN THE I30 AND MAXIMA ARE THE DOORS AND ROOF WITHOUT ANY MODIFICATION.
And why are you trying to hook up a car when you have tranny problems. That's just stupid.

hahahaha..oh man.....honestly, i don't know what is wrong with you, but it seems like you ask a lot of "weird" questions, and when someone tells you an answer, you dont usually accept it. It seems like you're pulling our leg here and we're on candid camera and you want to see who will get pissed off first. And why did you post in the i30 also?? anyways here is a straight up answer and stop asking after this.

So, yes, I am pretty certain you can easily put a Maxima trunk on your I30 and you can use Maxima taillights.
What are G2 euro tails? Link/pic?

Wouldn't not doing said "dumb s***" be the way to go? If you're dumb and realize you're dumb and continue to make dumb decisions, you might make our heads explode trying to figure it all out.

Calm down its just a trunk. Its not like im asking how to install a fake hood scoop.

Maybe you can go stalk some dude w/ a maxima and measure the top and bottom width of his trunklid and well as length. they look completely different BTW. my uncle says maxima rear looks like a piece of bread (prebaked) that's been cut. i30 doesn't therefore. it'll look very weird.

viewing the trunks on both cars from the side...the maxima trunk is "flatter" and and the i30 trunk has more "curve". to make it fit correctly, you would have to swap the entire rear of the car. maybe a junkyard in your area has it cheaper, but http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...w.car-part.com shows the cheapest in my area being $850. that's of course not including those tail lights.
you want a clean looking i30 trunk? shave the tailbar.
/$0.02
EDIT: on second thought...if you swap ONLY the maxima trunk onto an i30 rear, your finished product MAY look something like this:
except the "recessed" part will extend all the way up to the spoiler. your spolier will sit at least ~4" too far towards the front. no spoiler will look just plain dumb.

Will it be a bolt on mod: nope
you can make it fit with lots of custom work
97-99 Trunk lid
Infiniti trunk: *grabbed off google images*
custom work to the 1/4 panels will be required to accomodate the new outer tails..
You'll need a new rear bumper too..
looks like the infiniti tail lights "slant" more then the maxima
The maxima tail lights aren't as slim as the I30's...
if it was a simple plug and play, im sure it would've been done already..

Can anyone prove that a '95-'99 Maxima trunk won't fit on a '96-'99 I30? And that the outer taillights are not a direct swap? I am the only one on here saying it will work. I feel like everyone saying that it won't work doesn't know for absolute sure and they are just 'guessing'.

lol i cant believe this dumb thread is still going. Anyway, idc about the G2's anymore, im just disappointed that theres no custom i30 tails, because the stupid inner tail lights are connected as 1 big piece. whatever though, ill live.

The bodies are nearly identical with only minor changes. Nissan would not design two different trunk openings. It wouldn't be cost effective. Sure, the trunk designs are different, but the opening and connection points are the same. They look similar enough visually - both the trunk and the outer taillights. I'd be willing to bet a Maxima trunk will fit right on an I30 and the outer taillights will fit right in.

I was looking into swapping body panel parts from the i30 to my maxima awhile back.. the front clip is easy whereas the back is a little more difficult..
and a few years ago, I owned a 1994 honda accord and I swapped the front to look like the 1996-1997 front since 1994-1995 and 1996-1997 bumpers, front grill, tail lights and trunk are different.
Visually, the back seemed should be plug and play..
it was not the case.. tail lights do not bolt up directly and trunk arm designs are different..
but, if you want, prove us wrong and go ahead and do the swap..

anyways, horrible idea... for less work you could do the brougham cefiro tails/panel, spend your effort removing the plate box from the bumper, and actually upgrade the appearance.

i agree that the trunk has a good chance of fitting, or at least close to it, but i gaurentee the outer tails will not.
