A/C just started acting up???
I tried to search out any possible answers before posting this, but wans't able to find much in the way of specific help.
I was driving today and all of a sudden there was a clicking noise coming out form the evap/heater core area. It clicks when off and at the 1,2,3 positions. But with the fan going full blast at 4 it doesn't do this.
I ended up taking out the glove box. Started messing with the evap but the damn plastic shroud wouldn't come come out without the evap core. After tearing the thing i finally tracked down the noise. Just to the right of the black plastic housing up top there is the top of the heater core. Now at the top left corner of the grate(i guess this is the intake) there is what looks to be an actuator arm. Only thing is that it is not connected to anything. Trouble is a can't get far enough up into the area/space to see if there is some sort of gate/door that is supposed to be on the inside of this which should connect to the end of the actuator arm.
What i have noticed is that even with the ignition keyed on, but everything left off it still clicks. There is something at the back of the arm(which i can't see) that is pulling or pushing on with no resistance. If i grab the loose end of the arm(the part that is closest to the rear of the car and the part that is supposed to clip into the upper left hand corner of the heater core) and push it towards the front of the car it stops clicking. This is the same for off, 1, 2, and 3. Now if i turn the fan dial to 4 the arm actuates and the clicking stops.
Not sure how this all plays into one another but this is what i'm up against. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Some pics from a job someone did on here or even a pic illustration from a manual would probably help a great deal.
Cliff notes: there is a clicking noise coming from behind the glovebox unless the fan is on full blast.

Does your fan only works on #4 or does it work on both #1 and #4 positions. If you search there is a thread about the fan blower resistor going out. Its located near the bottom of the fan housing and I hope you didnt tear your evap housing for nothing becasue you can acess it from the glove box area.

Read the whole post and still don't know if there is any issue with your A/C.
Only thing mentioned is a noise.![got me](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/ne_nau.gif)
Does your A/C work? If not, whats it not doing? Cooling, vent selection, air circulation?
I'm stumped.....
