I think I need a battery...what kind?
MY car starts very weak and I think it's the battery. I thought it was the starter, cause I know that starters failing on a 4th gen is a common occurance, but I'm pretty sure its the battery, because after it's been running it starts normal....any reccomendations?

Battery options
Unless you're building a stereo system or have unusual power needs, go with: Interstate batteries
I know several mechanics who insist on using these in all their own personal vehicles because of their superior construction. DieHard is a well known "Sears" brand for which you pay a premium for that Sears name. Everyone's entitled to an opinion of course, I'm just passing along my anecdotal experience.
Alternatively, if you're looking for an exceptional value and there's a Costco super-store near you, they have a $35-39 battery to fit your car, manufactured by a company a friend of mine used to work for: Johnston Controls, Inc. He's a car guy himself, has no allegiance to the company any longer, and assures me this is a high quality product. It comes with the same pro-rated warranty you would find on any other battery, (just like the Sears Diehard) without the high sticker. You'll pay $40-$50 for the Costco membership, but with the savings on the battery purchase alone, the membership has earned it's value.
Typically, a Diehard for our cars at a Sears store will run you about $60-$90, depending on which model you get.
Good luck! Hope this helps.

Well...
If you're "maxedout" spend the little extra $$$ and buy something with a name behind it...I'm thinking Optima Red Top ($150). Plus you will be able to blast your radio with the car off for longer (or atleast you will worry less).

You could look at one of the new style Optima Red top batteries. Reasonable (for what you get) and pretty much resistant to high current draws. Not really a deep cycle like the yellow top batteries, but with a good-sized capacitor, should take care of your current needs... unless you a running a very large system, in which case you may want to look for a way to spring for the Yellow or even a Blue top Optima.
