started with a 95

ok i had a 1995 auto maxima but for the last two weeks a have ben trying to get this swap done. Had a buddy with a 97 5 spdR.I.P. but i got all his parts and have my cluch all lined up and tranny together. new motor and tranny went in really nice. all mounts lined up perfict and got the ecu and 5 spd harnes in and almost co0mpletly hooked up. have cluch master cylinder with pedel installed with the cluch lines run.but i ran into a problem.
ok i am not sure what this is but i am sure i need a new one.

the tranny leaks fluid out of it. i think. but all i need to know is what it is to replace.

also need to know what this is cause there is no plug for the harnes to go to it. I think it is just an auto thing but if any one can assure what it is and if i need it. or what i should do with it.

2nd pic is the drop resistor for the AT - you can get rid of it now.
1st pic - too big to tell. are you talking about the hole? is that for the speed sensor?

Crop or resize the pics, seriously. They're huge. Why the hell would you put 1600x1200 pics inline?

You referring to the reverse/neutral switch, then?

32005-17E12, $29.55 each at Courtesy

Or do you just want to replace the o-ring? Nevermind, the mounting tab is cracked off, you need a new one.

Yes, that other pic is for the DR, no need for it on a 5MT. Just get rid of it.

What's with the orange RTV on the trans housing? Your friend rebuild it himself or something? Sure it's not leaking from where the case was split, and not the switch?

Do yourself a favor; get rid of all of the stock crap that Nissan calls a clutch line, and spend the $40 for a full SS line from the GD.

Also, what's with the long stud facing down in the first picture? Is that how you attached the shift rod? You're not going to leave it like that...are you?

my friend blew his third gear in that tranny and the infinity dealership cracked into the tranny and replaced it.

But yes the big stud is connecting my shift rod but it will not stay like that.

I'd say you should ask all of your questions in one thread, no need to start another thread to ask if you have a VLSD or not. Not to mention there is this button on the top of every page, is a button and it works wonders on this site!

I agree with Pmohr, you need to clean it all up, the bolt - the clutch line - the RTV hangin (just dosen't look good and may prevent you from finding the 'leak' you speak of). If it's leaking from the diff - where the axles go in, hahahahaha .... have fun. It'll need new diff bearings if that is the case. You should always have a trans (at least 5 spds) cracked open and checked prior to install. If you don't know what you're looking at, take it to a shop and ask them to look it over.

And, btw - VLSD trans is not common in our cars, and the diff bearings are diff sizes, so you don't have one. The other way to find out is to look at the marks left after a 4k or 5k clutch dump! Woo Hoo!!!! LOL
