Rebuilding My Tranny

Hey guys, im going to be rebuilding my 5-speed trans @ 280k... The gear oil just gets by the seal ive changed the axel seal twice now and its just still leaking and now i hear my transmission making a hissing noise but when i push in the clutch it stops so i think its time for a rebuild.

I was looking at this site: site1

But then i seen this one on ebay thats cheaper...lol

Ebay Trans Rebuild

What do you think?

They have one rebuilt auto tranny for sale...or maybe its because i don't know the tranny #? Do you think the ebay rebuild kit would do the job?

I'm not seeing it either. I know that that site sells rebuild kits for our 5speed transmissions, but I'm not seeing where it's listed on there.

Anyways, be careful, that rebuild kit you listed on EBAY in your original post is for the VLSD trans, not the open diff trans. They word it very stragely. they say "non slip" when what they SHOULD be saying is "limited slip". you want a NON LIMITED slip, or open diff rebuild kit (unless your trans is a VLSD trans that you swapped in or if you are from canada you might have had a VLSD trans from the factory).

Check my sig for help ... see 'write up'.

VLSD has different diff bearings than a non-VLSD. Don't make a mistake and order the wrong kit. I also went with GT Trans ... George is a good guy to deal with, quality bearings / seals, and fair price.

if it's leaking from the bell housing it's the input shaft bearing without question...

$1200 is a bit on the high side but not out of this world.
