How Freely should the hub spin?

So after much searching, i'm fairly certain it's the wheel bearing that is the culprit. At ties when i hit some bumps in the road it will sound like the wheel is going to fall off. I pulled the wheel, removed the axle, and the hub does not spin freely when i give it a whirl. How free should it be? If i spin the hub, should it go around a time or two before stopping?

Thanks,

matt

This happened with my back left. It turns out i did something to snag the E-brake cable so it was partially on, so i would check out your brakes.

I assume we're talking about the front...

Check for a siezed caliper, the hub should spin a little but not much.

If you suspect the wheel bearing, jack the front of the car up and tug on the wheels side to side, there should be no play, if there is, then it's your bearings.

You also might want to check your sway bar end links if it "sounds" like your wheel is going to fall off.

Yes, it definitly sounds like the wheel is going to fall off. I'll check out the links when I jack up the car again. I hate working on the car in 110degree heat
