I hate my budget Y-pipe. =[
I hate my budget Y-pipe. =[
I should of went with Cattman... but NOOOO I wanted too save $125 bucks.
ugh. I am such an Idiot. I mean Its a good pipe but its just sounds like I have a giant paperbag under my car. Raspy as hell. Its so annoying and when I really step on it, it will sound a little bee in the can. Now, I don't know what too do, The pipe is about a year old and in mint condition, but I really need too figure out something.
I called LSS a while back and they said it was because of their "new Flexes" And obv they didn't wanna do anything about it. This is why I don't buy exhausts on the internet.
Anyway, What should I do? it sounds so yuck.

I've had my budget y-pipe for 4years and it's been on both of my maxima's and zero problems, no bee's but it is raspy but that from not having a cat or res
maybe you hit something and broke/cracked the welds

Hmm, Seems like a good idea, BUT exhaust wrap would make it not flex. and the crap will just fall off.
And yes, you can have it, If you buy it off me. Since there is nothing wrong with it, it is just how it is designed.

Nah, its always been doing this, Just it seemed too get more annoying too me because people kept mentioning it too me. And then I just kept thinking about it and thinking about it.
I have warpspeed on my car and does the same thing but also my friend has a catman on his and it does the same thing...its just how the y pipe hisses and with your setup it just makes it worse.
Id trade you my warpspeed but other then the lower 00vi manifold and safc2 or e-manege, what else would you need?
My stainless budget Y is perfect after almost two years of midwest winters. Hell, it's still shiny underneath the car. No bees in a can noise or raspiness whatsoever. I don't see how the quality could be any better than this.
By the way JNCO is a female, look at her sig pic....plus G-String money tight.....
I've had my Budget Y on my car 1 year +, no cat and an exhaust, no bees in the can sounds just a deep rumble. No problems at all....

You guys need to say if you're talking about the aluminum version or the SS version when you're talking about your experiences. There's a noticeable difference in the way each one sounds.
Cut your losses, sell the Ypipe to someone here that doesn't care about the sound issues, and order yourself a quality Cattman ypipe.

Same here, my Budget Y pipe has been on for over a year, and all I can say is that it is perfect! It is money well spent, I have no odd noise issues or anything else for that matter. It is a great product imho.
Zack
+1 and when my flex section fell apart, they sold me a new one and I had a shop weld it in.
Dude, you live in Mass definitely do not wrap it. Wrapping traps heat, moisture and salts and in New England that means massive rust especially with an aluminum pipe.
I have a warpspeed SS pipe and other than the slight issues installing, I have no issues with it

But, that's a hella good trade IMO.
I was just looking at a budge 'Y' .... I can't believe I've done what I have to my Max and I still don't have a 'Y' for it!
Does anyone recommend who to buy from, or not for that matter? OP: Have you considered a test pipe cat or res or even muffler to change the output sound? Do you have an otherwise stock exahust? I agree, check the gaskets and fittment, never know.
I'm a dude, dude. Thats my girl in my avatar pic with my I30. And G'String money tight is a phrase we came up with meaning everythings good.
to the op....
I had my y-pipe since 04....and its still doing ok..i mean..it has a HUGE dent in on the bottom since i bottomed out soo many times and i bet its more restrictive than the stock ones... anyways, how bad can the sound be?? i think i have bees in the can right now..but honestly....when your car starts to act up more and more....this so called sound really isn't an issue...
WOW .... "dats alot booze!" LOL Seriousley, you could probably sell that and make enough to buy a 'Y' pipe ... no?

I cant belive i still have my stock y-pipe on either. It just killed me to put that thing back on when we put the 3.5 back in
but it was a 3.5 swap on a budget lol probley did the whole job for 450 with a fairly newer motor(73k IIRC)
hmm, That sounds like a good deal. wanna throw me ur Stock y? maybe?

Obv I bought the SS version. lol. Its still shiney as **** underneth. Alum would be all rusty looking like my B pipe. lol
Cut your losses, sell the Ypipe to someone here that doesn't care about the sound issues, and order yourself a quality Cattman ypipe.

I wouldn't wrap a pipe anyway, Especially a flex. because... well it needs to flex. lol
I have a warpspeed SS pipe and other than the slight issues installing, I have no issues with it

When I bought my Budget Y-pipe about 5 yrs ago, it was making the same bee noises. So I talked with LSS and they just sent me another one w/o any noises and told me I can just keep the first one...I ended up just giving it to another .org member. I don't understand why they didn't fix your problem. Must be the economy...

I am trying to sell it for 100 bucks and i still am not having any buyers..... But that is the plan i sell 00vi to get a y-pipe. Since i have no need for the 00vi anymore.
Really? Having issues selling an Mevi? or an 00VI?

I have the same problem (Bees). It was an exhaust leak. Fixed that but my Stillen exhaust makes the cabin noisy. Getting a new muffler. I've been told that will fix it for sure. I'm going flowmaster or dynamax.
Lemme see what I can do man. I will call up LSS(budget) and see if they can help me. And you can contact me later.
Since when does aluminum rust? If its aluminized steel then yes it will rust.
