What brand of starter did you get. I'm thinking of getting a Bosch hopefully they are good quality. I just installed a starter my buddy had on a temporary basis.

Nissan did a fuel pressure check for my symptoms and diagnosed the fuel pump because the pressure in the fuel system was dropping too quickly once the engine was shut off. The FPR is designed to maintain the pressure in the system so why they did not suggest it, I don't know. Even the parts dealers tell you that often fuel pump symproms are actually the FPR and to try that first. Much cheaper fix. I picked up a used one on E-bay for $25. and all is well.

If you do decide to replace the FPR, be careful in loosening the 2 screws attaching it. They are tight and can strip very easily and then you are in for significantly more work! Not that I learned that from experience

Good luck.
Yeah Nissan diagnosed me loosing fuel pressure and also did not suggest the regulator. When I called back to ask about it being a possibility, I was told it would have nothing to do with starting or running....

Pmohr, is that vacuum line supposed to have a clamp on it? I don't see them on any vacuum lines and don't remember seeing them on past vacuum lines, but just curious.

Also, why is there a larger hose on top of the vacuum lines? Heat protection?

No, there's no point; you never go above atmospheric pressure unless you're boosted, so they're not going anywhere.

Even on some factory turbo cars there's no vacuum hose retention.

Likely to be either heat or protection against the hose rubbing against another part.

On the fuel rail. Follow the return hose back to the rail, it has a vacuum line on it.

Looks like we still do not have access to the FSM on the org. You can access the FSM through NICO

Clean your MAF using the MAF cleaner.

Read the Haynes...poor Drivablity, rough idle, poor air/fuel mix is sign of bad or dirty MAF. That should be the first thing to do before checkin sensors...especially if no CEL. These car are so sensitive to the MAF, keepin it clean is a MUST.
