In trying to figure out the cause of my 1008 code (P0443) I noticed that a portion of the sticky on 1008 seems contrary to what the service manual says.

Quote from Sticky
"With the solenoid energized the valve should be open and it should be easy to send air through the valve"

Quote from EC-243 -
5. Turn ignition switch ON and OFF and ensure the canister purge control valve shaft smoothly moved forward and backward according to the ignition switch position ...

Personal observations:

My valve checks out fine with ohmmeter and does move back and forth with ignition as in EC. I can blow air when car is off or valve is removed. Airflow is blocked when ignition is on.

Please advise,
Thanks
Mahmoud
Hi,
Have you had a chance to check this? I am trying to figure out whether to replace the canister, the solenoid or purge cut valve for 1008 to go away.

He can't start a thread and I need an answer

Thanks for posting for me - Bottom line question I need help with is this - What is causing my CEL 1008 in the 95 maxima with Calif Spec? My CPSCSV ohms out fine. I am also getting poor gas mileage. No other codes. I recently changed knock sensor, CKPS (REF), battery and starter.

Are we to assume that you've checked the connector for any damage or corrosion, and tested the harness back to the ECU?

Thanks for your help. I did check the connector for damage and also the valve shaft moves forward and backward with ignition so I assume all is well there. Hoses are good. I did not check the harness back to ECU - will try that next.

Well if you actually did check the valve per the FSM's instructions, then you wouldnt've tested this harness/connector at all; the FSM clearly states to plug the IACV connector into the EVAP CPCV before testing.

I dont remember the exact name... I think it was
evap canistor vent purge control valve. or it may have volume in it..

anyway this is the part that cleared up the 1008 code on my 95 cal spec max
before.

after which included a new bracket, hoses and slightly diff version of the valve

Pmohr, you are correct - The FSM does call for testing it with IACV - which has an identical 6 pin connector. I will be testing with IACV to see if the valve behaves any different . By the way, there is an error in the sticky for 1008 - it says 2 pin connector but it is actually a 6 pin. Please look into it when you have a chance. Thanks

Thanks for the pics. That is the valve I ohmed out and it shows movement. Also the mushroom valve in your picture and canister are listed as possible causes in later years. These parts are expensive so I am trying to identify the right (hopefully single) failing component. I will check valve harness to ECU and with IACV connector this weekend.

Do you recall if yours tested OK with the ohmmeter? Did the valve move back and forth? Is it possible it is failing under load or has a small leak?

the valve in the first picture was the replacement for the factory valve.

I had a 1008 code ,and bought a used one here on this site the white corroded one.
which did work turning off the CEL for about 6 months. when I got it it did move one way with the key on and the other when off. the original factory one did not move at all. I then waited several years all the time having the 1008 cel and finally spent the couple hundred bucks to get the parts you see in the second pic . for over 1 year now. no codes. id call it fixed but if you read the FSM there can be more than that part for a 1008

I finally replaced the CPSCSV, hoses, bracket and nuts as shown above. So far the code has not re-appeared. What is strange is that the resistance across the pins on the old part are OK per FM. Maybe it was failing at high temps? Anyway, the car was running rich previously and mileage has since improved a bit.

Thanks to all for your help.
