Concealed carry

I was wondering if anybody has come up with, or has, any good ideas on how to conceal carry in the Max. I normally just put it under my right thigh while driving. But I'm looking to make some sort of place I could put it for when I'm driving. 1; so that if, heaven forbid, I was to get into an accident it wouldn't just be flying around. 2; so that it'd be more comfortable. So if you have any ideas I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

If you didn't mind a more permanent solution, you could affix an OWB holster to the side of the center console, between it and the seat. That would really depend on size though; you would probably lose a PM9 in there, whereas you wouldn't even be able to fit a full-framed thicker weapon (most with a double stack mag).

I don't mind permanent. Although right now my carry is a Glock 23 so not even close to being tiny. And actually have carried my gun in between the seat and center console, but is snug even without a holster. And left some scuff marks on the console.

That's going to go flying if you have to make an emergency stop. Toward your feet - not good.

I think you need some kind of holster if you do this on a regular basis.

I carry any time I'm in my car. If it's under my thigh it stays put. Even stuck between the center consel and seat it's not going anywhere. I just don't like it rubbing on the consel. That's what I'm trying to come up with, some sort of way to "car carry" my pistol, or even possibly an extra

You could always find a hard holster which fits your piece and mount it between the seat and counsel and have it mounted in a way for quick draw, if needed. You may have to remove the front seat to mount the holster low enough. The holster would be a way to help the piece not to go flying when you make an emergency stop. IMO

Another way to mount the holster is under the dash (may be easier with an auto because of having to use a clutch w/ a MT). Mount it in such a way you can reach it with your dominate hand. Just an idea.

Just google it and you will find all kind of set ups The wilderness link with their safepacker holster is cool.

A few noob questions:
Will you be carrying your weapon at all times?
Does the weapon stay in the car when exiting?
Will you inform your passengers?
How secure will the weapon be incase of a break-in?

I carry all the time IWB, but that isn't very comfortable in the car (nor is it tactically very smart), so I have a soft neoprene Uncle Mike's holster in between the seat and the center console. When I get into the car, I take the gun out of my waistband holster and stick it in the neoprene one. It's nice because the gun (either a Sig Sauer P220, a S&W M&P 9mm, or a Kahr 9, depending on the season and my mood) slides in and out easily and stays very well concealed in my black interior.

I havent found a good place either. I want to mount a hard holster someplace in the car in which it cannot be seen. I dont want it out in the open because I sometimes have to leave it when I go into banks and other places that are off limits plus having a gun in plain view might present problems when I get pulled over.

There isnt enough room in the center box to fit my full frame witness unless I cut out some of the bottom of the box. I have never gotten around to taking measurements to see if it would add any extra room.

What if you got one of those single DIN pockets that doesnt have the door on it, rather its just the pocket. Maybe somehow mount it in there for easy access?

Or, you could get a holster attached to the bottom of the dash under the steering wheel, on the right (rather than the left by the fuse panel).

Also, if you cut a small hole in the bottom of the arm rest pocket for the barrel of the gun to fit down into, say make a 2" x 3" hole, and get a holster to hold it in. It wouldn't be easy to access, but it would be safer and more concealed.

my friend from the audi world showed me a picture from a guy that had his headliner redone so there was a bat holder just over the driver side door. You could have something like that done i suppose, it would be easy to access, out of site for the most part you would just have to figure out a good way to secure it while still making it easy to get at

Epic win until you pull out the bat not knowing the other driver has a CCW permit Pulling the bat gives the CCW holder every right to shoot you

I have considered having a heavy duty holster stiched/zip tied/??? securely under the driver seat, Where's the handle is very reachable or easily accessed with just a reach down.

An interesting place would be a visor mount, if you fab'ed up some spacers and tightened up the pivot rod, it should fold up like stock and stay up without falling down.

I carry a glock 23 with me whenever I'm not at work(they kind of frown upon carrying a gun on an ambulance). I have a IWB holster that holds the glock plus an extra mag and I just usually keep it in there when I'm in the car. I've tested drawing while sitting with a seat belt on and I never seen any problems. I have thought about mounting a holster somewhere in the car and the only thing I can think of that would make it the easiest to reach would be to mount a holster between on of the seats and the console. Theres really not alot of room in there but I think it could be done. Very interested to hear what can be thought up.

Does you absolutely no good if the weapon is stolen while you're outside it and there are lots of safety issues w/ leaving it in console, etc...
Check this out:
http://www.center-of-mass.com/Store_BioBox.htm

When I carry in the car it's on my hip. I like the IWB too, but my glock 19C has too thick a grip for comfort, so I generally carry the Kimber Pro CDP II, for thinness of frame and grip.

Oh great, an anti.

How about not debating whether or not one should carry, but rather focus your attention on the question asked by the OP?

Well if you read the first post, you'd know what the question at hand is...

Yes I carry all the time, except when at work.

The only time the firearm is left in the vehicle is when I go somewhere it's prohibited, which isn't frequent here in Utah.

Everyone I know, or that would be in my vehicle, already knows I carry. And if they don't, or have a problem with it, then they are more than welcome to walk.

I'm working on a system to lock/hide/secure it for when it's left in the vehicle. Right now I'm looking at how to mount for a quick efficient draw.

I like how that 1911 is mounted, if it were rotated just a little more muzzle down I think it'd be an awesome draw. I've thought about inbetween the seat and console, but like you can see in that pic with the Springfield, you have to slide your hand between the console and grip. Not completely out of the picture but I'd like to avoid that.

I've been pulled over once with my Glock loaded on the passenger seat, completely forgot about it since I was being pulled over. He saw it very first thing, asked if I had a CCP, and then said to just leave it alone.

But yes if I could mount it out of site that would be nice.

That'd be pretty awesome to come up with something like that, that is molded and looks factory. Sadly I don't think my skills or budget can do that.

I thougt of that, but to actually reach to the bottom of my seat is quite the stretch.

That would be cool, but very dependent on the gun I think. But it'd be one speedy draw.

Good choice in firearm! That's my same carry.

1; cops are too heavy to carry around with me
2; I'm not gonna get mugged now, now am I?
3; Uh what other people, it's called conceal carry for a reason.
4; I've thought about it.

While I'll be hated for bringing this thread from the past... I MUST reply to this as I never originally saw your reply. I'm glad you're banned. You fail to use proper judgement. You fail to be a smart man by making such statement with such insufficient background. I sit usually 12-14 inches away from my steering wheel. Yes I am aware that airbags fly out a pretty fast. Did you also know that insurance companies suggest you place your hands at 9 and 3??? Eat **** you're full of

People that say "only cops should carry guns" aren't seeing the big pictures - That would mean only cops and criminals have guns.

I modded up my holster under my seat. Easy to get to but not so easy that it can be seen from the outside and cause a break-in. Not to many places in a 4th gen that are both safe and practical, which is the entire reason you carry in the first place. Wow this ones old though lol. My 2c on the gun rights thing is, you better get one now while you can before they outlaw it and then you wish you had one.....and worst of all, before you wish you had had one.

my OWB clips right on the Drivers door storage area. Cross Draw but very easy to access. if I have to leave it in the car for some odd reason I have a locking safe under my seat that is bolted to the floor.
