retrofit question

I have purchased morpheuszero's retro(they should be here in about a week), and i have a question. I have never hooked up hid's, and have a question about hooking them up. When ppl do retro's they usually make a harness. Why do they do so, and do they plug up by splicing power and ground or is there more to it.

the only hid kits i have installed comes with a harness so that your stock head light plug will plug into your HID box. i have been lucky the 2 cars that i put them on had 9006 lights the most of the box;s ive seen have a 9006 type plug on them so i did not need the harness. just remember if you plug everything in and the hid's dont light up try swaping the power and gound going into the box. if the plug is backwords they wont light up at all i made that mistake once.

Because you don't want to put that kind of stress on your stock wiring, it can cause damage, even fires. (note: this is bad).

If you make your own harness out of lower gauge wiring, it decreases that risk immensely.

Edit: as for your second question, if you make your own harness, you ground to the chassis, and get power directly from the battery (fused of course).

As saber said you don't want to put that stress on the factory wiring. If you stress it enough you could fuse the fuse and create a dead short. That can and will lead to fire. And electrical fire is nasty and costly.

I highly suggest a harness. If you cannot make one yourself there are a few of us on the org that can make one.

the lights come with a harness. but morpheuszero is not the easiest person to keep in contact with, so my questions are getting directed to the org. Thanks for the input guys
