New Spark Plugs Installed

I finally decided to change the plugs in my 98 Max . I replaced them with NGK Iridium IXs ($7/plug at Autozone) and so far they seem to be doing well. Just did them today. I pulled the old plugs and they seem to have all been wore down the same and discolored the same.

Since buying the car, I have not replaced them...so I decided to do it...just on a wimm. I bought the car with 103k and now has 171k...figured it was due. Yeah, sightly OVERdue. The only reason why is I wasn't really sure how to replace them and finally I said, "F*** it, I am just going to figure it out."

When I was reading how to perform the replacement that peeps were having issues with them, I wasn't sure why. The job wasn't bad; just remember to take your time removing the coil pack screws and not to drop them. Total time to do....30 minutes.

I was researching this topic and the only reason why I chose the NGKs is because it seems there are a lot of .orgers that hate Bosch or any other plug for their Max.

In all my other cars, I used Bosch and had no issues. I know it says to use NGK plugs in the manual, but don't all of the plugs on the market require to meet a manufaucturer's spec.?

What does everyone think about my plug choice and what issues have you had with the NGK Iridium IX plugs? Were these plugs a good decision?

you are right on choosing NGK. As long as you have the tools, it's 10 minutes job.
the hardest part is to push the coil clip out, need strong finger muscle.

The only reason why it took me 30 was because I dropped my 8mm socket and extension onto the passanger a-arm. Took me 10 minutes alone to get it out of there....oh yeah, I had no way of jacking up the car. Had to turn the wheel as far right as possible.

So far, I have had a tone difference in my exhaust; it seemed to have gotten a little more throaty. I did notice that I lost some of my jerkyness and hesitatation when starting off at stops. It seems the car responds better when at higher rpm too.

I am going to keep track of my gas mileage for a while and see what changes in this department. I was reading some peeps have noticed a mpg or 2 improvement with the Iridiums, but I need to see for myself.
