A/T service

Been working on my 96 Maxima for the last couple of months, and getting ready for it to all go back together. I have the automatic transmission out as of now, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of things I should do maintenance wise while it is out of the car. Obviously the fluid is out, so it will be fresh. I have new axle seals ready to put in it. I also will be replacing the pan gasket. It currently has 176-177K on it. Only real issues were that it would shift a little hard every once in a while in first and second. Other whise no major issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
NM91

I did a drain and fill with amsoil atf and it helped. Also put in a b&m 70255 cooler.

That seems to be the norm for most 4th-gen automatics. First-to-2nd, firm hard shift, next two shifts smooth and easy...

If you're really worried about it, or if you're feeling ambitious, you should pick up a rebuild manual. You can most likely pick up a rebuild kit from transstar here: http://www.transtar1.com/rebuilders.asp. They have six different levels of "rebuilding" to suit each job or what you feel comfortable doing yourself.
