rear brakes hanging up
I am seeing that problem with the rear brakes not quite releasing, there is a TSB about replacing the parking brake cables, which I don't see anything wrong with... I am thinking that the return springs might be weak... Has anyone bought just the return springs? Are they a dealer only item?

However, I'm not sure how likely it is that that's your problem. I'd get under there and wiggle things around first to make sure the brakes release when you manually move the parking brake mechanism, though.

Disconnect the cables at the brakes and have someone move the park brake handle while you check the cables for free movement. It's a pretty common problem to have to replace the cables, they get corroded inside, and at the Y connection.

I have the same problem also. You can get a new spring from the dealer. It didn't fix my situation but it helped. I just can't pull the parking brake as hard or it will stick. On the other hand the regular brakes are working great. I can still lock up the rear tires easy and as soon as I release the brakes the wheel spins freely and the pads are still new. I can't decide if it is worth it to replace the caliper just for the parking brake.

i don't know if this is in relation to your ebrake or just brakes in general. But when i did a brake job on my car i noticed that one of the returns on the back brakes was seized and was causing a continual rubbing.
It was my folks car before and so i didn't really worry about it much until i inherited it.
I took it apart and greased it up and put the sleeve back over it. Haven't had any problems since.
