I have a 99 cali spec i30 and live in California where there are very strict smog laws. I got sick of paying to pass smog with some of my past vehicles and don't want to have to do the same to this vehicle if the 00vi is installed.

I can pass smog with rediculously great numbers as shown below. Besides the fact that it is illegal, I'm sure that it can still pass the visual. Any successful morgers who have pass smog? Just want a little confirmation before even attempting this. I know that enabling egr and having no codes are a major part of this.

00vi swap isnt illegal....you should pass fine as long as your keep everything operational.

hell my swap was CEL free and looks stock, all the bolts on and everything, and i dont even have my idle hooked up the right way i think. either way it idles fine at 900-1k.
if you got the IACV plate i bet it would run stock idle.
and egr my 01vi came with a stock block off plate.

and there should be no reason it would be illegal , your just changing airflow. hell, grab yourself a 00vi LIM and you have a set of butterfly valves, ripe for the californian picking.
and in fact, the 5th gen EGR tube is better than our 4th gens, it has better flow and wont block up as fast(dont quote me i just read it in a thread)
