GAS DEPLEMINSHING

I have a 96 maxy v6....but it seems that my tank is drinking too quickly i feel like im in a v10 ..Just this morning i was coming off a highway and i went around a long turn and the tank just went down from a lil under half all the way to quarter and when i was done with the turn..it slowly crept back up to a midway point between half and a quarter....DID ANYONE EVER have this problem before????

it happens. its the fuel sending unit, when u turn the fuel goes to one side of the tank and your guage reads either lower or higher, also depends on how long the turn is.

Well the coming off highways feels ridiculous to look at my gauge drop like that...But i feel like overall it burns gas to fast.

How many miles do you get to a full tank? Also what kind of gas do you put in? Do you drive like a grandma or like your running from the cops?

You realize that the gas gauge operates on a floater right? You go around a turn, the gas gets moved to one side of the tank, and the floater moves up or down. Hence why your gauge moves up or down.

I restrained myself from starting a thread just like this one... Because i found it weird that my gas gauge would always dip considerably while "driving" on a certain 1/2 mile road that happens to have lots of turns...

Fill up your tank, reset your trip, drive till you run out of gas, fill it back up. Divide the amount of miles you drove by the gallons you put back in. Don't judge gas mileage by your gas gauge. Do the calculation and that'll tell you your true MPG.
