1. Check codes
2. Search the org for possible solution
3. If no luck, start a thread and ask for help
4. Profit.

And please be more specific with your thread title..per the forum rules.

As I hear always here , check/fix all the CEL issues other than the KS one...then reset the light and see...if it comes back,check/fix again...the last thing to fix is the KS

If it makes you feel any better, when i bought my maxima two and a half years ago, the next week I had the joys of a CEL pop up. I got it checked, and it's been on since. Mechanics always clear it, but it keeps coming back. My code is P0125, a phantom code that isn't anything to worry about. Unless another code comes up, then i'll never know. As for mine, she's always run great even with the CEL for over two years.

except you wont pass inspection with a c/e engine light on. unless the tech is cool and gives you a break, which could lose him his license.

Agreed. Fix your evap problem first, then go from there.

So, you don't think that P0125 is important, and you live in a COLD place!

P0125
ECT Sensor

edit: and ... as mentioned SO many times before, the KS will not (NOT) trip the CEL

I had the same error code and I live in the Mass too. I know how inspections are a pain in da ***. I had the CEL light come on when i installed a cold air intake. Went to autozone and they read the codes. Came back the Ks and EVAP. So I took my car to the dealer jus for kicks cuz i wanted to really check the car. They told me KS and the 02 sensor. They changed the sensor and reset the computer. No problems ever since.

Honestly i think if i had changed the KS then nothing would have been worng. Most people who seem to have that problem with the evap seem to have the KS problem too. Coincidence??? maybe not. Either way..there are 2 EVAPs to worry about...one top of the engine intake and another at rear of the car under near the gas tank. Prolly jus need to change the 02 sensor. Its too freakin hard to change the KS but u can buy one off ebay for 25 bucks.

Honestly if the car is hesitating upon hard throttle...its the KS and thats an even bigger pain in the *** to change. Im still tryin to change mine hehe

It's not that hard to change, and it really doesn't have much affect on performance. I am not hijacking this thread and turning it into a KS thread .... there are already a TON of them on here -

Also tips on changing the KS - no need to remove the UIM, just get a girl or kid with small hands. Plus ... it saves your hands from getting cut up too. heheheh

So other than the gas cap witch is fine and the KS witch i might change this week, i know its not hard, what else is the p0440 code possibly popping up for, most likely.

Da bolt on my KS is ridiculously tight!!! Tonight I am gonna buy some liquid wrench and lube the bolt and see if that helps hehe.

As far as the 02 sensor, the dealer performed the evap pressure test and said i needed to change the 02 sensor. I changed it and never had any problems afterwards.

THe 02 sensor under the car near the cat converter. If u can get under the car then its pretty straightforward using the Haynes manual. I didnt do it myself cuz it was already at the dealer's at the time and i needed to have other work completed as well.

15 post rule. Helps keep spammers and scammers away. 9 or 10 more useful posts, and you can start your own thread. However, I can probably guarantee that if you use the free search, your question/topic has been covered before.

Dude, welcome to the frigging club. I lived with an on/off CEL for 8+ months. It sucked.

Ok ... I'll pipe in too ...

My CEL for the past year has been an On / Off endevour. lol Oxy sensor as well. I just quit replacing them ... and oddly enough, it goes away (for a while - several weeks at a time) but then it comes back. I've told myself if I ever sell my Maxima, I'm gonna have to place an ad hit and miss (gotta make sure the CEL is off) LOL
