Quote: Is it possible that when you put the abs actuator back in that you didn't place all of the lines in there proper place and maybe mixed up the right front and left rear?

ECU 100% WILL take care of your idle issue, I don't know what that guy who said otherwise was thinking. I have one but you will need to do some work to get it code free. Actually, even if you use a '95 ecu you will need to do some work to get it code free for the p/n code you will get.
There must be variations and certain years that have this issue...i drove on my Auto ECU after my swap for over a year with not one single problem...

As for the ECU, just get a FED spec 5spd ECU and even if you have a cali spec car the codes will never pop up...there is no real work involved if you end up going that route... (thats what i ended up doing) But this has already been discussed in the thread...

as for the ECU check car-part. I remember having to call quite a few Junk yards...it was a PITA

Quote: will a 95 5spd ecu, fix my idle issue?
i have a 96 and just did the swap. my idle was a little high when i started the car and the manual ecu fixed that a little bit but it did not fix the coming to a stop rpm's. it still will rev for like 4 seconds before it drops. but getting a 5spd ecu will get rid of a ton of your auto tranny codes

So if it will not fix the idle coming to a stop, what will??? why does it do that?

My TCM is out, so your saying if i get a 5spd ecu, it will still idle up one the car starts moving??

Have you checked for vaccum leaks at the intake at all yet? You probably should.

my car has 60k miles. the engine is mint. no leaks or anything. its the stock intake box as well. it is not a matter of something being broken, something is telling it to idle up, because it only does it while its moving.

mine doesnt idle up when moving it just holds the idle at 1100 or so rmps for about 4 seconds when coming so a stop before going down. from what i hear this has no fix after swapping trannys

Mine does this same thing, even swapping to a 5spd ecu wont fix this?

Yes, it should.

If the swap is done properly, there is no difference between that car and a factory 5MT (obviously besides any markings of trans type).

Quote: The idle issue is because of the 4AT ECU, that's really all there is to it. Later ECUs may throw a CEL because of different pinouts and different equipment. An FPCM code, rear O2, other emissions, etc.

ANY ECU 95-98 will work, just some quirks with the 4AT ECUs, and codes depending on the year. There's nothing about any of those years that will make them just plain not work (don't know why that was said, but that's just incorrect).

As for the brakes, bleed them again, in the proper order. Did they all work properly before the swap?

pmohr, seems to think a 5spd ecu will fix this?

Fix...what? You can't ask a vague question without any context.

I really can't state myself any clearer, I've been quite forward about what I'm saying.

If you still don't get it, then I can't help you.

Relax, I appreciate all your input but the text was less of a question, and more of a unsure statement because of all these mixed opinions. I completely agree with you, if i swap to a 5spd ecu, the car would 100% think its a manual. But why is happy4444 saying he still has the high idle issue?

Thank you all again. I appreciate it.

im using a 95 5spd ECU also, and the idle problem is still there, but not as bad as when i was using the auto ECU. instead of stopping at 1500, it stops at around 1100 or lower. this is strange though, the first ECU i swaped to, was a 96 5spd and the idle was normal for a while, but after a couple of weeks the idling problem came back, but like i said, its not as bad as when the auto ECU was in. its a problem i can deal with because i can now change my own gears. consider it a little side effect for the cure of an auto tranny.

watch your tone, i havent been online in a long time.

got the unit installed. went from about 8 codes to 3. Codes are Evap codes. I think they sent me a cali spec 5spd ecu. But what is even more interesting is the car still holds a high idle when the vehicle is moving....
