Good man! Welcome to the club - one of the first things I had done. I agree, you need to kill the window trim chrome. If you plan to take it off first, e-mail me for directions.

it is just viynal , the same type of stuff you see on cars with stickers(usually white). you can buy a small piece in any colr as long as its not a special color. All you have to do is peel off the backing, stick it on, cut away the excess and fold over the rest and your done. Can be done in about 10 min or less, looks awsome too

why? this only cost $6 for me to do this? are the photos not convincing enough? I can tell you that it is not that noticable, especially to people who are not looking at it.

i'm kinda **** about how my car looks. I think putting vinyl over the handles is kinda cheezey. but that's me. might as well do it right, IMO.

looks really good. i was going to do that i bought a pair of gray door handles and was going to have them painted black. but then i changed my mind because they go with my rims and it would be a pain in the *** if i had to paint the window molding also. too much work.

hehe

i see you followed my advice

Where did you get the vinyl from?

I put carbon fiber vinyl on mine... I will either paint the chrome window trim black like kctyphoon or use vinyl on that as well. The chrome sucks ***, I already painted my chrome GXE grille black. Looks so much better.

Hey, that thing sounds real cool, I'll probably try it out...
I have a question, did you try this on your car? Do you know how thick it is?

It sounds good, I'll order some

thats exactly why i took them off, as for the trim i have not fully decided on that as of yet. I kinda like how it defines the windows, I have a black car with tint, so if i were to black the trim out i would lose that cockpit type look. On the other hand, im am also curios how it would look blacked out. I think ill leave the trim alone right now. I want to get some sway bars first or wheels.

How much $$$ would it be to just get the OEM handles and black window trim anyways? Would it not look better/last longer too? I don't have the nerves to do the tape job cause i'm too much of a perfectionist

ummm.. bulldog adesion promoter, and flat black bumper and trim paint (flexible). its been on there for a long time now. mabye close to a year and doesnt have one chip in it. and to whoever said that they would never paint it cause there too much of a perfectionist, i take that as an insult. my painted moldings look as good if not better than your stock ones, and anyone that has seen my car can testify to that. you can look at it under a magnifing (spelling?) glass and wont find an imperfection.. if you think you'd have better results swaping your chrome moldings for black ones, have fun puttin 'em back on

Painting is ABSOLUTELY the best way to do the job, but it takes precise masking, proper preparation, and the right products. Congrats on a beautiful job KC! What exactly did you use?

bulldog adhesion promoter, and plasti-kote flexible bumper and trim paint, flat black. i did about 4 coats of the promotor, and mabye 7 light coats of black using a heat gun to dry in between coats.. here's a close up of the tape job.. and oh yea.. word of adice to anyone thinkin of trying this.. spend the extra money for the blue painters masking tape. your all ready saving the money not having to buy all new moldings, so spend the 4 bucks on the roll or have fun gettin all the glue off your car

hmm, im not sure. I have black so it was easy to find my colr. Im still sorta new here so i dont know what lakshore blue looks like, dark blue? They do have that color in the viynal.
Check ap-signworks.com for the color. If money is no object why not just get them painted? The bad part is getting them painted means that nics and scratchs will be abound there. The viyanl is cheap and does not scratch. Plus yuu can do it yourslef in like 15 min max. i attached a pic

Of course! Just PLEASE e-mail me before attempting this yourself. That way I can give you step by step by step and you can learn from my mistakes! Wow, I sure wish I knew you before I blew a wad on mine. I would have traded in a second. Good luck.

I'm stuck with the same dilema and I dont want to get the wrong color. I have a laksehore blue max and would at least like to see if I like having the chrome taken off but might have problems finding my color. Has anyone on here with my color of max done this yet?
