you wont be ruining them if you do it right and take time and precautions. why dont you just buy some chrome hightemp paint, because i didnt know you could chrome plastic. im not sure how i would fix that problem because i would just buy some new ones.

I did a good job trimming the shrouds but just by touching them to much can ruin the finish. The ones I purchased from ebay already had some of the paint coming off anyway so I bought some ones then I decided I didn't want to cut them to make them fit over all over again... This way I can sell the ones I bought and at least make some money back. I haven't seen any paint that can duplicate the OEM finish, I tried some before and wasn't happy with the results.

Anyhow I was trying to tell you there's a company that can re finish the shrouds so they look OEM again. Someone on hidplanet sent their shrouds to this company and had it re chrome or refinished. I can't find the thread though.

Thanks, I'll take a look into these and see how much they'll charge or if they can do them.

Here's what mine looked like a while back. So Im looking to just have the shrouds Im using now re chromed since I already have them trimmed up nicely to fit in the housing. I sent the one place an email, I'll see what they come back with as far as cost.

I am interested in what they will charge to re-chrome parts. The shrouds I have are fairly beat up and was going to paint them... but if they can be re-done for cheap...

Rechroming is not cheap at all, even the diy real chrome stuff is expensive.

I spent a lot of time making the shrouds I have now fit, which is why I thought of having them re chromed. 100 bucks is a lot to re chrome them, you can easily buy 2 new pairs for that price but then most likely you will have to dremel them up to make them fit in the narrow R34 housing which can lead to chrome chipping off even if your careful . Its either dish out the dough to re chrome what you have or trust your craftsmanship and chop a new set of shrouds to make them fit the housing.
