What's the starting problem? Cause when its cold out I have to step on the gas a little while starting the car or else it stalls out. I know I have an EGR code and an EVAP code and I'm wondering if we're having the same problem.

What are they leaking?

I think they are the coolant lines to your heater core

my Vi makes a PSHh sound when i turn my key on.

as for what they are leaking i dont have a clue, i have a PS leak ive been chasing since i got the car, my coolant stays pretty much full, i keep having to refill it because i keep messing with my lines so idk. and i have a slight oil leak either in the engine or right there.

i cant tell by smell because when i redid ALL of the PS lines some of it spilled out the resi and happen to fall all over that area. i cant tell by look because it looks the exact same as the old PS leak in front of my radi, but is black and grimy.

maybe its my blinker fluid?

and if your evap breaks, you, get a code lol. most people bypass in their 00vi swaps.

well your problem is directly related to your starter switch, your other thread pretty much, the contact points get wore down ect, that is the root of your starting problem my friend. i would bet on it.

does your car just" do nothing" when your turn it all the way to start it? then immediately flick back to "on" then when you try to start it again it starts up like a rocket? if so, starter switch, its what mine did.

also chrisman, i think your IACV is going out, sounds just like min did on its way out the door, especially now that its getting colder.

no the 1st time i turn the key it will crank but not start then the 2nd time it will start either normally like id expect it to or BARELY (not like a rocket at all)

either way im going to get a new switch and try it if it doest work ill return it

Just curious, why do people bypass EVAP when they swap? I was running mine bypassed when I swapped and for some reason the car hated it. I reconnected my EVAP and it hated it even more for about 5 minutes then all the stuttering problems cleared up.

Also, what is there on the 00vi that could make a sound when you turn the key on? I have an 01 intake too and the only source of power that the manifold itself gets is after it hits 5000RPM from the wire that is connected to my VAFC II.

Great to hear!, ill have to pull mine and make sure mine isent getting bad.

well now that kind of makes more sense guys! i examined it more closely today and i discovered, its grease! from a blown apart boot from the last owner. and PS fluid covering it. god knows how i will fix it, i cant even get my PS pully to move so i can change the belt.
its not quite a sound, its just it opening.
well, mine makes a noise because of my switch, its set to open @ 600rpm and close @ 4600rpm, so when i start the car, pshh.

5000rpm? nice power band you got there!
