big fuse on the battery terminal ????????????

What is it there for and what happens if its blown

its your master electrical fuse. if it pops, you wont have any electrical accesories at all.

well when i shake it theres something rattling in side the fuse and i still have all my accessories and it seems like its blown

A lot of things will still work if the 120 AMP fuse blows. Your windows, power seats and fog lamps will not work. If you really want to find out just take it out. 120 AMP if CA car 140 Amp for Fed specs.

That fuse is for your alternator, something is going on there. The black w/red stripe wire runs to the alternator.

If it blows again (probably) either the black/red wire is shorted to ground or your alternator is fried. Either get an ohmeter or extra fuses. You could disconnect the blk/red from the alternator if it no loner blows the fuse the alt is probably the problem. How did the problem start?

Well 1 day i was just checking out somethings under my hood and i notice that when i moved the positive battery terminal it was rattling. So i just thought id ask the question on here to see if anyone could tell me exactly what its there for and if its a problem .

Is it blown? I guess if your charging system and power windows, sunroof work it's OK.
