Not really, unless your idle is notably rough or you get a distinct chirping noise when accelerating from a stop or coming to a stop.

Every time I have had a motor mount fail, it is most noticable in reverse because the car vibrates like something is seriously wrong.. You would also notice vibration when the car is not moving (there should be none.) No maint. required.. It is one of those parts that has a life span and when it dies you replace.

I've been hearing this loud CLUNK noise when i put it in reverse and hit the gas. The tech said it was the springs, but i found out that if i have it in reverse with the brake on and hit the gas, it still makes the noise (car doesnt move obvoiusly). the clunk noise comes from the engine bay area, and is really loud (can be heard inside and outside). i also hear a slight chirp when revving the engine while at idle or while pushing the gas (low speeds). weird...i also feel every damn shift too, esp. from 2nd to 1st coming to a stop it jerks. Sound like an engine mount or tranny mount?

Engine mount! Open the hood and put the car in reverse or drive. Step on the brake and give some gas. You will see your engine move around if the mounts are shot. Do Reverse and Drive to test both sides of the engine for bad mounts.

My mom had a 73 buick with a 454 in it. A mount broke in 1/2 and when the car was in reverse if you stepped on the gas hard the air pump would hit the hood!

BTW - That Buick Estate Wagon 454.4 cubic inch V8 with a quadrajet carb on it was a super fast car! I used to beat the pants off 350 Camaros.
