Check Engine Code 0505 and engine misfire
I was getting cylinder 2 misfire codes constantly so I switched the cylinder 2 coilpack with the cylinder 4 coilpack to see if the problem would move to cylinder 4.
I am now getting a different code, 5 longs followed by 5 shorts. I cannot find a mention of this code ANYWHERE. Any ideas what this means? I am hoping for a cylinder 4 misfire code as it would prove my diagnosis, but as I said I searched around and there is no mention of a 0505 code anywhere. I believe a Cylinder 4 is 0605. I have triple checked the number of times it has blinked and I have had other people look at it.

Would it be possible its actually a p0505 which means its a IACV? The light is flashing. The prior light was 6 longs 7 shorts = Cyl 2 Misfire, and this code would appear almost every time I drove.
Another thought is that the person watching the code while I was turning the screw messed up (which did happen, I told them to tell me when it started blinking and they didn't) and I ended up resetting the code then showing a perfectly reset code 0505?

0505 means everything is fine.
So you reset the codes, then pulled them immediately afterward, and are confused why you got an 0505?
Clearing the codes means that there are no codes to pull, not until one gets set. Especially with a misfire code, it will take some time. You got 0505 because there were no codes to pull.
Unless you mean that you cleared the codes, got a CEL and pulled an 0505 then. In that case, that's been known to happen when there are electrical issues present.

Yeah I was confused by that because my assistant messed up.
Today I removed the spark plug. A lot of oil was in the hole up on the threads. I am thinking bad valve cover gasket.

Unless you're keeping the car for another 100K miles or so, the NGK Iridiums work just fine, and are a lot cheaper.
As for the 0505, I posted recently about pulling the code when the CEL came on after running the car at around 90mph on the highway. I got an 0707 (O2 sensor) as well, but only once, and after resetting the ECU it went back to only the 0505 . Per pmohr I ran a high level check of the charging system which came back ok. Interestingly, after resetting the ECU again, the code changed back to 0707.
I've read about the p0505 IACV, and it's not the same thing as the 0505.
I've reset the ECU enough times over the years after fixing something, and when there's nothing wrong I don't pull any codes. Just my $.02, but if you're getting an 0505 something is lurking.
