window problems.

few weeks back i was driving a friend around and he had put the window down almost all the way. there was only an inch or two protruding from the top of the door.

at point he puts his arm out the window and leans on it (.......) and i hear a popping noise, as well as a metallic clank, like something metal fell inside the door frame.

now the window will go down using the controls, but will not go up. i can hear the motor running when i try to close it, but nothing happens. i have to manually lift the window to get it back in closed position.

im obviously going to have to open up the door, but i was hoping some of you had a similar problem and could direct me where to look or tell me what im going to need once i actually get the door panel off.

you take the whole door apart easily with a 1/4" ratchet set and phillips head screw driver.

Does the Motor make noise? if not that could be your issue
also look for any wear on the cable for the window regulator.
also check the bottom of the window where it attaches to the regulator and make sure he didnt break off the plastic clips...

(ive been having a lot of window issues lately so i researched it a lot haha)

or the teeth on the regulator snapped a couple and he needs a new one. if thats the case i would just buy a new motor/ reg. and be done with it.
