Maxima Airbag replacement?Help!!!

Hi

I bought a Maxima that had its airbags deployed. I replaced both airbags (drivers+passengers) and have not hooked them up yet. Before I hook them up id like to replace the airbag control module that's in the armrest column. My question is, is this module the one that has the shock detector? is it a one time use?

I have a 1997 for parts and this is where I got the airbags which wasn't to bad to install. Just wondering if the airbag module is the last thing I have to replace or is there some sort of shock detector on the front of the car? I couldn't find anything labelled SRS or tapped up with yellow in the motor bay, just inside the car.

I'm thinking I only have to replace the following:

Driver Side Airbag (done, not wired up)
Passanger Side Airbag (done, not wired up)
Center Console Airbag Module (not replaced)
Possibly Missing Something Else?

Thanks for the help...I will have the car inspected by a professional once its all done up. Just don't want the bags to pop!

Make sure you discharge any capacitance in the elec system first, disconnect the battery wires and connect them together. should ground out any caps and discharge them.. Wait for some other assistance before doing anything else though i really dont know what else to tell ya.

Yes you must replace the module under the console. It's a one time use. The only other thing that may go bad is the clockspring but it's not that common. Leave the battery unplugged for 10 min and you will be fine. Hopefully you did that when you removed them from the parts car.

Yes you'll have to replace the module and that's the last piece. After everything is changed and connected up you'll probably still have an SRS light.

How to reset SRS(air bag) light:

Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button located low on the B pillar, a button which is pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door Switch (DDS).

Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF. Close the driver's door. Start the engine.

If the airbag warning lamp is still on (or still flashing), there is a fault in the Supplemental Restraint System which must be diagnosed and repaired. This is a job for your local friendly Nissan dealer.

Passanger has 4 10mm screws holding that damn airbag in... Driver side is a breeze! You have 2 inverse torques (same as passanger airbag) to take out and thats it...Pop all the plastic caps (3 of them) on the steering wheel and you will see the 2 inverse torques. Actually you only need to take 2 caps just can't remember which ones. But its 5-10 minutes with tools in your hands.
