VQ35 cams can swap into the VQ30, but you'll need adaptors.

PM MoncefA33. He has a set of cams and adaptors that he's trying to sell. I was gonna buy them, but don't have that money ATM.

i would go hang out in all motor for a couple days, youll learn alot,
i think estimated gains was 20-30 hp from a thread i saw?
oh, but if your going to be doing all the work of getting adapters, just swap in a 3.5? more power, less danger that modding a motor has.

PM me if you're interested in those cams/adapters man

EDIT: 3.5 swap entails much more than that.

Also if you wanna cam your car I highly suggest you get a wideband and a piggyback tuner to optimize the Air/Fuel ratio and possibly your ignition timing. Exhaust won't hurt either. If you want to run a raised rev limiter, make sure you get VQ35HR valve springs and retainers. PM me or check the All Motor forum if you have any more questions.

And if it's worth it? Depends on your resources, it's pretty labor intensive. But you can make good power I'm sure after a tune, considering VQ30 cams are like circles

Do both.

MEVI improves top end horsepower, and the cams will be more effective at breathing near mid-range and high rpm.

mevi=loss of midrange gain of high.
cams=gain it back and even more on top end.
00vi=gains on all powerbend btw.

Yeah, either do MEVI or 00VI. 00VI gives you better midrange than the MEVI. They're probably a little easier to get ahold of too. Only downside is 00VI is a little more difficult to install but there are a lot of people on the .Org who have done it so there's a lot of support for it.

Cams make your car epic. /thread

Thanks for all the info guys...I know the MEVI is a direct bolt on, except for rpm switch and what not but whats the deal with the 00vi?

You're gonna have to search for more info on the 00VI because it's widely available in the All Motor forum stickies.

But quick rundown. 00VI and MEVI have the same essential purpose, generating good top-end horsepower instead of choking the car like the stock 4th gen manifold does (referred to as USIM).

00VI is not a direct bolt on because it comes out of the 2000-2001 VQ30DE-K engine, so there are some inconsistencies between intake ports, coilpacks, injectors, idle control, that require extra work to function properly. In the end it's worth it, because it's not that hard. Literally hundreds of members have done it. You're gonna need either an RPM switch and something to tune with or if you buy an Apexi VAFC or GReddy e-Manage Ultimate you can tune and control the VI opening/closing with that.

Thats a quick summary, keep

You and I better start researching the HP per $$$ for the cams vs. 3.5 swap.

Anyone want to toss out some baseline $$$ figures?

700-2000
all depends on the cost of the 3.5L
100$ cam adapters
80 for fluids
20 for belts
350-600 for the motor.
a tuning device 150-500
0-300 for renting tools.
time= long weekend to 2 weeks avg.
thats all i remember, FROM SEARCHING, when i was thinking about doing it
i still might, selling my 00vi to start saving up.
cams idk,less?
go hang out in all motor, learn alot with the stickys, i did, i read the bleeping write up at least 3 times.
by researching you ment asking the wrong forum lol, 3.5=5th gen+, motor swaps= All Motor.

Will do, by the time I get around to a 3.5 swap I'm sure I'll have tons of research done. Wiring up my WRX ej20k swap into my Porsche 914 is project #1.

Thanks
