99 maxima rpms

I just bought my first maxima (1999 gxe automatic) (previous car 1997 Altima) and was wondering if anyone else notices the rpm not decreasing when letting off of accelerator? The rpms will stay roughly the same (about 1500 at 45mph)until I hit the brakes then they will go to idling rpms. Just wondered if this is normal. I'm very happy with the car. I can't imagine driving anything else.

My car does the same thing. I believe it is normal. By the way, I have 99 automatic, too.

Thanks for the reply. I really love the car and got a good deal on it to boot. I just couldn't see spending 25-30,000 for a new one. Maybe next time I will.

the torque converted lockedup in fourth gear, thats why rpm wouldn't drop, if u turn O/D off, u won't see this, the rpm will drop a bit when you let off acclerating but no to idle
