AZ come with a lifetime guarantee. I used their calipers when replacing my frozen ones about two years back.

I'm happy with the two I bought from Pep Boys. 45 after you return the core.

Hey I hardly ever post but i've gotta add something to this thread. Why is everyone so hung up on the "lifetime" warranty offered at A-Zone and Advanced?

They take your core part, rebuild it, and sell it to someone else. So what does that mean to you? The same guy that brings in a damaged (sometimes non-repairable) part that he could barely get off the car... will eventually have that part rebuilt and re-sold to you.

I just turned 30, worked on many vehicles as a side job, worked in automotive customer service for 7+ years. Seldom satisfied with rebuilt products from those stores. At one time went through 3 cv axles on a 94 integra to get one that sealed correctly to the transmission. Yeah its great that its lifetime if your labor is unimportant, but my free time is valuable. I want to fix something and know that I shouldn't have to worry about it for a LONG time. If you want the job done right, use proper parts. I choose to own a 97 maxima because i'm saving for a house and don't want car payments.

If you want your car reliable, don't use rebuilt parts from the cheap auto suppliers. The dealer calipers lasted 10+ years. Remember that the part rebuilder only replaces what they feel is damaged.

I understand where you are coming from, but the reality is these cars (mine is a 97 as well) are quickly approaching the end of their life span. My dealer wants 400+ for a new rear brake. I got one from a junk yard for 60 bucks. Before you start going on about how I got ripped by the junk yard... realize that I am in canada and EVERYTHING is more expensive here.
Anyway my main point is this... to spend 400 plus on a part for a car that I might only have for another few years.... to me that just doesn't make much fiscal sense. A brake is realitvely easy to replace so yeah... I went the cheap route. A starter on the other hand.... can totally leave you stranded so that ended up being a dealer part after I went through 3 re-built ones in 2 years.

I guess in the end it's up to each person to decide what is worth is and whats not.

How are those 2 year old calipers operating now? Have they needed any service?

I need new rear calipers for my 1998 Maxima and am interested in buying the remanufactured Fenco calipers that AZ sells for $87 each.

I'll only be driving this 12 year old car for maybe 2 more years so I see no purpose in buying $400 OEMs.

I have had my junkyard one for a year. Bled the fluid before I installed it. used the dremmel to polish the sliders. slapped a coat of paint on it so it matched the other 3. put a thin coat of vasaline on the rubber seal so it's conditioned. So far so good.

Redneck repair at its finest! But I can't knock you man.

I needed to replace my frozen rear calipers to pass inspection,
To my disarray I found out that every store in the area wanted 80 bucks
for one plus a 30 core charge.Until I found pepboys, they wanted 45 for rebuilt oem's (they had the nissan logo on them) but a 60 CORE CHARGE.

I bit the bullet and paid the 210 dollars plus tax for the parts.
Installed them and took the old frozen oem's back to pepboys.

Rest assured I got my core charges back totaling over 120 dollars !

In the end 90 bucks well spent.
