My Max was Stolen Last Night

Sadly my 97 SE was stolen last night. I want to put all those who own Max's in the Hartford,CT area on warning. I live in Manchester, and within the last month every Max in our apartment complex has been stolen. The police said Maxima's and Honda Accords have the highest theft rate in the area. BE WARNED !!!!

P.S. I'm definitely going to get another one , if anyone is looking to part with theirs, please let me know !

Man that sucks big time. I hope you find it, well unless it's been stripped of everything. Anyways, best of luck to you.

I filed a claim this morning , I don't know how much they'll give me for it yet though. The Cop who came out was scared that his Max would be next.

Good Luck... I got around 13,500 for my 96 SE in Feb of this year after it was totaled. It had 68k, no extra options. So maybe they will treat you right.

In my apartment complex there were 4 97's and a 2000 SE. The parts are definitely in demand. Allstate says they try to help their clients get new vehicles within 30 days if the car is not found.Next time around I'm definitely throwing a kill switch in the car, like Acuras have.

I WOULD INVEST IN A "LOW-JACK SYSTEM" FOR YOUR NEXT MAX

kill switch

A friend of mine just got a new 2002 6 speed. Before putting on all the mods (has money, not like me) he rewired the seat memory switch as a kill switch.

Great idea.

Are you close to Buckland Hills mall. I go there to shop sometimes and I always feel that the cars there would make good victims.

So when we gonna start gettin parts for cheap?

I'd love to catch someone in the act, I think the news headline would make thieves think twice.

Good luck w/ the insurance.

I live right around the corner from the Buckland Mall. A lot of Acura Integras and Honda Accords are getting stolen too. I think the fact that they've stolen every Max in my complex is what upsets me most. I'm definitely getting a kill switch on the next car.

Thanks for the well wishes. I hope I can find something really soon. I've been looking already. I found 98 in Sterling Mist. I need to wait 30 days though.

Man, ever since my car was recovered last month I've been pulling out that fuse in the meantime until I invest in an aftermarket security. I've gotten really good at removing and putting it back without looking. I hope you recover that car.

Sucks dude, I'm sorry.

About a month ago someone tried to steal my maxima in queens, ny. They broke the pass side window and popped the ignition but couldn't steal it (either really stupid amateurs that couldn't get past the alarm starter kill - or they got spooked... it was midday). Anyway, a week later I took a report from someone (i work for geico) who just had their max broken into in the same area... exact same damage - tried to steal it - couldn't get it.

Sucks.

Oh boy.

I have esurance. Have doubts about how they would handle a car theft. Anyone else use them and ever had to file a claim?

The chances are they probably won't recover it . According to police , they haven't recovered any of the Maximas stolen from my complex. The were running a sting operation, and the day the sting stopped the thefts started again.

Manchester, East Hartford and West Hartford, police all lack the manpower and know how to handle auto theft as a whole. Cars stolen in the Greater Hartford area are probably quickly taken to larger cities like Springfield, MA and New Haven where chopshops strip the car in less time than it takes for you to even report the theft. Unless the state gets involved, I doubt that any serious results will come of this.

For now, I'm glad my car is safe in a garage at night.

Hey thanks guys, I live right outside of Springfield, now i feel really safe about leaving my Max. I get worried leaving it at the movie theatres too. The whole area isnt that safe...i need to get an aftermarket alarm. Sorry about the loss...good luck

that totally sucks! I have a garage, and now I actually am happy I am paying so much for it! I would be interested in making a kill switch anyway, but I have I-Lock. FYI, I found out that, once programmed to an individual car, the I-Lock cannot be worked by the "dealership" I-Lock.

(I-Lock is a transponder ignition lock.)
