Is this a normal behavior from A/C ?

Weather outside = 30F
Fan dial = on position 2
A/C button = OFF (a/c compressor is off..and no rise in idle)
Temp. setting = on middle of the red area

and the vent. openings blowing hot air after about 3-4 min driving ? (car is GXE and no auto climate control).....thanks

if your saying that it takes about 3 or 4 minutes after you started the car up from a cold engine.
then yes.

it does take awhile for the car to warm up.

well your not gonna get a/c unless the compressor's on.
try turning on your compressor you will noticed the difference if your system is charged properly

You don't have A/C without the compressor running, all you have is vent and heating.

Try reading your owners manual for a good description on how the system works.

The A/C will not run if the outside temps are below freezing.

So I can get heating without the compressor running ?

You may need to be a little more specific. If you run the heater without the compressor, it can still produce heat after the car warms up.

If you are talking about hot air while the car is moving, it could be simply that you don't have the re-circ on.
