Converting GXE to SE

I have a GXE but I really like the appearance of the SE. So my plans are to get rid of the chrome door handles, grille, and trim, and also get a spoiler. So I was wondering what would be easier...painting the door handles black or buying black door handles off ebay? And is there a way to install a spoiler on the trunk, or would I be better off just buying a whole new trunk with a spoiler already on it? If anyones ever done some of these things let me know how you did it!

you can buy a spoiler off ebay or wherever and the install is pretty easy.

as for the door handles it depends on how much they cost. if you are going to do it yourself, rough up the chrome pretty good and use a good primer or it will peel.

all the differences are silly(not worthing the effort)...only the spoiler and the 4th gen wheels are the imp ones...

Dude just worry about the fogs (bumper), rims, spoiler and call it day. I'm not a fan of chrome but it doesnt look too bad unless its a must. If you do want the color coded handles, just get some already painted from the junk yard instead of painting some chrome ones

Personally, I'd scuff the chrome up, mask around the handle and paint. to me that is easier than removing and installing new handles.
If you want to go full SE conversion then don't forget to remove the CHMSL in the rear window and get the block off plate to replace it.
I'm not 100% sure but when you put on the spoiler trunk it may take a different set of torsion rods than the plain trunk (3rd gen does).

The front door handles are pretty easy, the rear door handles are a little more of a pain.

As for the spoiler. I'd swap a trunk lid out for out with a spoiler (there are plenty of people on the org that would do so), to prevent leaks and a poor seal.

The grill is simple.

The trim, I don't think you'd be able to swap out, unless you change doors ... But that's a bit of overkill.

Good luck

My car began its life as a GXE
I swapped out door handles, gauges, changed out the chrome window trim and the ECU for an SE one.
The only thing I havent done is remove the third brake light which is still on my lists of things to do.
swapping trunks with an SE trunk already having the spoiler would be easier to me then buying a spoiler, having it painted and then mounting it it and wiring up the LED.

along with this subject....is there a wiring harness hiding somewhere on GXE's so you could just pull the fogs out of a junkyard and plug em in or do you have to get everything and wire it up?

you should have a harness under your front bumper. But youll need to get a fog light stalk from a junk yard to control them....
