Cluster swap problem

so i swapped mu cluster today and the fuel gauge and temperature gauge don't work good. the fuel gauge dindnt reset it stayed where it was when i got it and the temperature one is all the way on high while the engine is just worm. When i put my old one back the temperature and fuel is the way it should be, Is there a way to reset it or is the cluster i got just bad ? Im changing my cluster because the guy before me put leds in it and everything there is all messed up ,just want a new cluster that was not played with., Thx in advance , btw its a 99 max 5 speed

I think the clusters from 98-99 are interchangeable. I bought a cluster from a 98 to put in my 97 and it didnt work.
What year did the cluster you bought come out of?

97 is analogue
98,99 are digital clusters...so you should expect different wiring and connectors

Have you tried putting it in diag mode to see if the gauges operate properly then?

If they still aren't working right in diag mode, then it's undoubtedly a bad cluster.
