The GLE is loaded with luxury features, some of which were available on the other models at extra cost.
The SE has a sport-oriented suspension and bigger/better rubber.
Both GLE and SE had alloy wheels. Some SEs have 16-inch alloys. GXE Plain Jane models have 15-inch steel wheels.
Fancy-dancy liquid filled engine mounts were standard equipment on some (possibly all) of the GLE and SE models.
Some of the differences are minor. The GLE and SE have chome-plated "finishers" on the tailpipe.
GXE Plain Jane models with 5-speed and the base audio system(such as the one I drive) have a fixed mast radio antenna.

Chrome.... ick
The SE is in blackout trim. NO chrome on the door handles or around the windows. I think this is a much better look, especially on the darker colored cars. Of course there's the spoiler standard on the SE as well.
GLE has automatic climate control...

Have you all forgotten
Foglites are standard on SE, most GLE and GXE if not all don't have foglites. Don't forget chrome tipped exhaust for SE i dunno bout GLE cause i don't have one but i know it looks like **** on the GXE, no offense to GXE owners, just got my GReddy on today, WOOHOO! now i got a 4" chrome tip!

Ooh, and GLE and SE automatic have "liquid-filled engine mounts." That, and different wheels.

SEs and GLEs get the liquid-filled mounts, per the '97 catalogue.

I have a feeling that tint is a dealer addon.-hype
The GXE and GLE have the chrome molding and the SE has black moulding. The GLE has softer suspension whereas the SE has sports suspension. The GLE and GXE doesn't come with foglights. The SE is the only one with a rear spoiler.

Per my 1998 catalog, the standard transmission is NOT available with liquid filled engine mounts, look it's there. I asked about this when I bought the car, so I am about 100% certain.

Who are you trying to argue with?
Quote from the 1999 Nissan Maxima Catalog:
"Electronically controlled liquid-filled engine mount
This rubber mount is filled with a viscous liquid to provide cushioning where Maxima's engine is joined to the frame. For maximum effect, an electronic control module acutally matches the level of damping to the engine's rpm. (Non-electronically controlled on GXE and manual-transmission SEs.)"
Looks like every Maxima has the liquid filled mounts, only the GLE and SE Auto's have them electronically controlled, unless all that has changed over the years.

I think those liquid filled mounts do help, my car doesn't shake at all at idle, or even when accelerating, or wait.. I should say "use to".
Cheston and I just put on my y-pipe today, which is bolted on to the frame of my car, so it's going.... engine --- y-pipe ---- frame, so it vibrates a little at idle now. Oh well, the sacrifices we make for that extra few HP....
