trunk pop question (not valet mode problem)
trunk pop question (not valet mode problem)
my trunk does not pop from the door button or the remote, only key, and its NOT b/c of the valet mode switch in trunk being activated. 1st, b/c i tried, 2nd b/c people with that problem still hear the latch popping, it just doesnt release.
mine on the other hand makes no noise at the trunk when hitting either button, but you can hear a slight ting inside the driver door, like maybe the selonoid(sp?) reacting to the button being pressed.
so anyway, tried a search and its all just valet mode stuff. figured id ask before taking my door apart and troubleshooting...
thanks in advance

If it only works from the key, I'd guess you have a bad solenoid. The noise you hear when hitting the door switch is probably the switch it's self. A switch has contacts on it and when power is applied, the contacts come together and I bet that's what you are hearing.
On the other hand ... have you checked the fuse? I'd start there and if all is good, then you are certain it's the actuator.

BUMP!!
Don't want to create a thread over this, thanks to searching.
Simply put, tonight my little sister decided to play around with my trunk. Everytime I attempted to open the trunk via door switch or remote switch she would close the trunk.
Now the trunk will not open via door / remote switch but does open with key. It also makes the sound as if it's trying to unlock but doesn't. It makes this sound with both ways (door/remote). After doing some googling, apparently there's a switch you can hit that disables door/remote trunk switch.
I don't think that's the case... but if it is... can someone please tell me where the heck it is? Cuz I keep searching but I don't find anything in regards to disabling the trunk switch.
Again it makes the sound as if it's trying to unlock the trunk, but the trunk doesn't pop open. I have to use my key.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Nevermind!!!
I've found the disable/enable switch. It's in the trunk itself, the locking mechanism is the actual switch. Pull up to enable remote / door switch and push down to disable door/remote switch.

I had this problem the other day, I heard the mechanism making the noise to try and pop the trunk but wouldnt. So I used the key, opened it, sprayed WD-40 on both the locking mechanisms and it's worked fine ever since.
