what clutch/flywheel are you using?

im going to need a clutch soon so i need some input. car is a 95. which ever clutch i get, i'm gonna use a Fidanza flywheel. I'm was looking at exedy stage 1 but don't know if the pressure plate is soft. the stage 2 is a puk style and i don't want to break anything. dont know much about ACT so i would like some input on that. thanks in advance.

knowing that u will never have slippage, and its a grabby clutch. i think 250whp will make the stock clutch slip for somebody like me thats not going to cut it and while im replacing my clutch i might aswell upgrade.....

I think my car had an OEM or replacement exedy OEM like that, it had been there for a while, felt pretty solid until it started slipping, people who drove my car always commented on how good the clutch felt

As these guys mentioned if your pulling extra HP maybe go something above OEM. I have OEM exedy and its AWESOME, first couple of weeks were great cause it grabbed after like .0002mm but after some wear its running great and smooth no slippage and it GRABS helps transfer power great. Of course im completely stock

I have the exedy OEM too (as I was told), your description sounds exactly like my clutch, when I first got the car it was really on/off but now it has a normal (but strong) feel to it. I will try to stick with this clutch as long as I can. But I was told that the 5th gen clutch is good too for just bolt ons n such.

What ever you do don't buy Centerforce DF, it slipped after the break-in, and now can't hold a 2000 rpm launch. It was a total was of money. I have it paired up with the Fidanza light weight flywheel, and l have no complaints about Fidanza. I was going to buy ACT, to replace the Centerforce but after careful consideration l decided to go with Competition Clutch Stage 4, 6 puck sprung ceramic disc with lightweight steel flywheel(10lbs with starter ring!). I went with steel because the ceramic friction disc can get the aluminum so hot it will warp it, or worse melt it at the crank bolts. This is an aggressive combination for a supercharged or turbo equipped max, with a moderate to hard pedal. This is not my daily driver so pedal feel dose not bother me, what dose bother me is buying a performance clutch and it slips, call it overkill if you want but l would be happier if it broke axles, at least then you would be getting what l paid for.

Ahhh so if the im pushin more HP then go to stage 2 or so. All i did was intake and exhaust...no reason to go stage 2.

My next question....how long u guys had installed?

I look at it a little differently, stronger is better. Exedy makes great clutches, but as far as l'm concerned they don't make one strong enough for a supercharged, turbocharged or a big shot of Nitrous(125hp) applications with the maxima. But if you don't plan on going FI get the stage 2, it will be strong enough to support future mods like 00vi or a 75 NOS. Buy a little stronger clutch than you need then you will have room to do future mods with out worrying about the clutch slipping.

Not sure what you meant about, how long had installed, please explain.

it also depends on how much you race it. i got a ACT stage1 but im thinking of buying a stage2 because i realy do race a lot. i have had this clutch for a couple of months and its grabbing ok. not as good as it used to though. my mods is a 3.5 swap with intake and exaust.

I asked cuz OEM clutch will last a while under normal driving conditions. I dont have the resources to swap the clutch anytime i want. I wd have to pay for labor. I dont wanna buy a clutch and flywheel and have to replace every year.

But since im not goin F/I then i dont need to get a stronger clutch....Plus the Fidanza was like 400 bucks...ouch!

Depending on how you drive the car, will determine how long your clutch lasts. Do not expect a performance clutch to last as long as a OEM, because you will be abusing it and the trade off is it will not slip.

And like you said you can't afford to change the clutch every year, so with that said if you buy a stage 2 it will last a little longer than the stage 1, because of the friction material, and will be able to support more power in the future.

And if you are interested in a lightly used fidanza flywheel mine will be up for sale in a month or so.

l figure it would be lightly used, that stupid centerforce slipped right after break-in, and it was all-motor no FI no Nitrous . I never did any more launches after that, should look brand new. And the car has been parked for the last 4 months, to busy in the oilfeild in the winter to take it out, oilfield shuts down in mid-March for break-up then l have 2 months off to get it ready for summer, supercharger time. Then l will see if my predictions about the flywheels condition are accurate. Hope so

Ya performance isn't your problem, hub caps are. lol
good luck
