car wont start

cranks until it wont do it anymore. new battery, alternator is fine. It just wont start, and it kinda wants to, and when the RPmS raise a tiny bit, the car shakes violently and dies. Any suggestions? I just went down to it, and its getting gas, we checked at the fuel filter and it squirted everywhere. So, im left that somehow the gas isnt reaching the sparks, or all my coil packs went bad at the same time, or my ECU is shot. So, Im stuck, please help!

Any codes? Check the Camshaft position sensor and Crankshaft Position Sensors. Seems more the CPS to me tho.

Might jus need a good TB, MAF cleanin

A little history may be helpful. Was the car fine one day and then would not start the next morning? Was some work done on the car?

Car has been dying on cold starts, and about a week ago it woundnt start, but eventually did. I got a new battery after that and it seemed to go away, and now its permanently not starting. Its sitting in my carport now because I had it towed here. I need to charge the battery/run codes. Also, I need to find out a HOW TO with Pics on how to check the spark plugs/ coils.

for a lot of your tech questions, download the FSM. You could also get a Haynes, or search on inet for general "how-to's

I still havent got my car starting, so, where exactly are these crank and the other sensor at/ are they a pain to replace? Tomorrow were checking the front coil packs and seeing if it will light off carb cleaner, if those dont work, ill do the sensors.

You should definitely read these 2 threads:

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ont-start.html

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...-vs-crank.html

They are all about the crank with no start.

There are 2 crank position sensors. 1 is directly under the crankshaft pulley. The other is right between the upper oil pan and the transmission.

The camshaft position sensor is on the front of the motor. If you are standing on the passenger side looking at the engine bay it will be at the top right of the engine.

I also say CPS. You need spark, fuel, and timing to start. I know that there is a way to test the CPS with a voltmeter. There should be 540ish ohms of resistance. If the number is in the millions, then it's bad. About 90% sure that it's the cps.

Not to be rude OP, but there are PLENTY of threads(even within the past 2 weeks) on this subject. With MANY fixes to the problem. Check for spark, fuel, and air. If you have all those, start checking snesors, injectors, etc. And try the grounding mod, its mentioned the the above threads (the cranks all day thread for sure)

I had my maxima do the same thing. It just would not crank over. I replaced the spark plugs seemed to help, then I couple days later it just would not start at all. Went to napa and they said it was rare and they said it was the fuel regulator. I put in the new fuel regulator and now it starts up like a champ.

Had my dads friend look at it, and replaced the starter, now it runs and starts fine. It didnt appear to be the starter at first because it cranked, but the other day it stopped all together and we tried with jumpers, and it dragged down the f150 lol. So it had a blown armiture and now its replaced with a NAPA one, so I can finally drive =).
