HELP: auto transmission shake

I have a 95 SE auto... it has 159,000 miles on it, and until recently, has been flawless. within the last few weeks, it has began to shudder and shake around 35-40mph when it is just warm, or relatively warm (not totally hot yet). it almost feels as if the transmission maybe be in 4th, and at low RPMs, like 1200 or so, and bogging down, causing the gentle shudder.. (spelling?) it is usually around 35-40 on backroads, just cruising, not accelorating. It doesnt appear to slip under hard acceloration, so im not sure what to think. any suggestions, THANKS...

Sounds like a misfire. Check Engine light on? Could also be a lazy or clogged fuel injector. Run a bottle of Chevron Techron through a tank of gas also. And if you haven't already, tune the baby up!

its been tuned up. i did a new fuel filter a few thousand miles ago too. its not all the time, it runs great, its only around 35-40, and it appears to be only when its warming, not hot. i'll try the Fuel injection cleaner, but im not convinced that is it. thanks

Check your tranny fluid level... and put a can of BG Products 44k in your gas...

My company had a Taurus that did the same thing. During warm up it shook. After it was running for a good 15 minutes it ran perfect. Turned out to be an injector that just would not infect fuel until it got warm. No check engine light was ever thrown. The injector seemed to be performing correctly. We found it by pulling the spark plug wires one by one to see which cylinder it was. We verified we has spark, the plug would come out dry. You could even hear the injector clicking. On a last resort to fix this car, (dealer could not figure it out) we changed the injector.

Problem solved!

I'd look into a similar situation with your car.
