loweing springs question
loweing springs question
whassup everyone,
I recently bought a used I30t and wanted to drop it with aftermarket springs. I want to drop it as low as it will go but don't want the ride to be stiff. Can you sugget any springs? I was thinking about Intrax because I heard they were softer than others. Any info would be appreciated. Also, does lowering the car require a camber kit?

no matter what you get, its gonna get stiff. coilovers are the lowest choise but since you want springs then Sprints are the lowest with a 2 inch drop. Intrax I think are 1.7 or so. Dont forget you will need to get new struts and shocks with them. I dont know about the camber kit but I heard any lower than 1.6 will require a camber kit but I also heard that some have dropped it 2 inches with no problems
Anytime a car is lowered it will be stiffer then OEM. The closest ride to stock is w/ H&R springs. The lower you go, the harsher the ride is. I am riding on Sprints right now w/AGX and its a little stiff. I had GC's w/ Tokicos dropped almost all the way, they are VERY bouncy. Its like a serious case of bad hydraulixs. I also hav ehad the In-Trax and still have them laying in my garage. The ride on the In-Trax is a bit softer then Sprints but the stop isnt as nice.

The I30T is a nice car!!! Don't spoil the ride with a severe drop. Go for the H&R springs and KYB AGX shocks and struts. You'll get a really nice look with the H&R drop plus you car wount get that much of a beating (suspension wise). They ride pretty nice and handling will be awsome!
You don't need a camber kit with H&R's. There's enough play in the bolt holes to compensate. Just pull as much as you can in the positive camber direction (top of hub/wheel twards you) when you tighten up the lower strut mounts. You should wind up with about 1/2 a degree negative camber which is perfect.
Also read the post in the top of this forum entitled Changing suspension/Noise from suspensiion. There is a lot of very usefull information on that thread.
